Ride quality...get your thoughts?

If you daily the Raptor - keep it - why compromise 28 days a month for 2 days a month towing. The Raptor is a great truck, your boat is well within the tow limits of your truck - so I can see no reason for a HD truck (regardless of brand or model). Much nicer to live with a Raptor daily, than a Tremor (or any other HD truck).

That being said if you are going to get a bigger boat (9k plus) or heavier trailer - toybox etc., then I would make the move, but based on your current situation sounds like you have a good set up for your needs. Right tool for the job as they say!

PS - I had a Raptor before that I did daily. Once I got my F-350 Tremor I got another car for daily.

You can not compare a super duty to any F150 including raptor. Super Duty is a truck and it is going to ride as such. Now I been driving them since 2005, and the improvements between my '05, '15, '20 are huge. My current truck rides like a cadillac compared to my '05. You can throw all the money in the world to a super duty, it will never ride like a F150.

Run 17" wheels and 35" tires....air down to 55PSI all around. That SD rides CHANGES faster than Cinderellas pumpkin after midnight. You would be amazed at the change in the ride when you drop as little as 5PSI on all 4 corners. Yes, you might find yourself chasing that rabbit but there's solutions which are not costly. Lean in the corners is an easy fix with Hellwig bars front and back.

I've been a long time SD 3/4 ton or 1 ton pickup owner (since 2000). Went from a short bed to only buying long beds.
I will say this:
I never worry if the new flat screen will fit in the bed.
I never worry about the new furniture my spouse "needs" to buy will fit in the bed.
I never worry about the trailer I need to tow.
I never worry about loading plywood or lumber in the bed
I never worry about how much river rock is getting loaded in the bed.
I never worry about how much sod is on a pallet.
I never worry about MPGs, especially when towing.
I never worry about having to fuel up every 400 miles when driving 14+ hours one way.
I never worry about heading to the dump with all the trash that needs to go.
I never worry about parking spaces cause I learned how to whip this monster in/out/backing up faster than most.

Honestly....just buy it. Tremor or whatever trim, short bed or long bed. Just use it and enjoy it.
^^^ This^^^

I run tire pressure at 50 all around and the ride is night and day. I only air up when towing the RV. Riding around at 80 PSI is nutts! HARD as rocks!

I think you are right. But I feel like the raptor is slightly lacking in power when I’m towing my boat so I think I will go with a trx…more power but still the fun and maneuverability factor. Thoughts? I hate to leave ford but it seems like it’s the best of both worlds for my situation. Thoughts?

I'm not super familiar with the Ram family but I've often heard the TRX described as “sports car stiff” compared to the Raptor's more “pillowy” ride. And just like the Raptor vs the F-150 Tremor, I understood the Rebel to be more geared to your use case than the TRX (commuting, occasional light towing, not extreme off-roading.) Curious to see where you land though.

There's always the Raptor R, too… 💸

BTW, I'm surprised to hear you finding the Raptor to be lacking in power when pulling a 6k boat. I thought the Raptor had similar peak horsepower and torque to the Godzilla in the Super Duty that many of us are happily towing 15k#+ with. And our trucks are naturally aspirated (so probably have quite a bit less peak power than you at elevation) and we weigh like ~3000# more than the Raptor, I believe.

I wonder if your issue is more with the power curve / gearing or tuning. Maybe there are some common upgrades to the Raptor to get more low-end power out of it or to keep it in the optimum torque range?

If you are going that route - get a Raptor R - better truck than TRX - more towing capacity, better payload, bigger fuel tank - you can find them at MSRP - I know the cost $$$$$ - but they are worth every penny! That is a truck I will keep a long time when I get mine!

Many dealers are asking way over MSRP - they are not selling for that - call around and look for a dealer to order one like Granger on here - then wait your turn. If you were doing a 2024 Tremor - you can get an ordered Raptor R in similar time frame.
Check with Zach at Granger to see what they will do.

Good luck!

Oh wow, I didn't realize you could find them at msrp. I assumed that was impossible. Well i'll look into that. I would definitely be interested. Although...still $115k for a truck is still alot but if there's a truck to hold decent resale...I would think the R might. But I got a feeling it will still drop $20-30k within a couple years. Who knows though

This struck a chord with me as well. I had an Expedition with the 3.5L EcoBoost that I used to tow our boat at the time... it was 22' and probably around 5k lbs. No issues with power delivery at all. I towed with the multiple F150s (both 2.7 EB, 3.5 EB, 6spd, 10spd, CC, 4WD) also with no issue. Smaller boat by then though - probably 4k lbs. Gen 2 Raptors have the 10spd tranny so I wouldn't think gearing would hinder it even with the 35" tires. The ones I have driven (albeit unloaded) didn't feel any less potent then my other EB vehicles with similar curb.

@clemsondds are you using tow/haul when your boat is hooked up?

Every time you mash the gas - you won't give a $#!+ - you will be all smiles - can't take it with you - so have some fun.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I have a raptor now and I don’t ever mash the gas fully. I have a sports car for that. I’m sure I will a few times but in all the cars and trucks I find, I find that I rarely floor it except on occasion. And that’s including one of my vehicles that does 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. It’s a cool party trick at first but then you (I) just don’t ever use it. But you do use mid range power so that’s why I like the torque of the raptor or the TRX. I believe the TRX might tow a little better. From all the reviews I’ve read and owners feedback, but I could be wrong. And it sounds like the raptor R will tow maybe slightly better than the TRX. The question is whether I could find one at MSRP.

Last I seen granger was selling trx and raptors at around 8k under msrp (not sure about the raptor R) and TRX starting at 30k under raptor R prices before the 8k under msrp. I'd almost pass on a R even if I could afford it just because of the obscene price compared to a TRX, 115k is ridiculous. Almost a slap in the face imo. A 790hp tyrant TRX is still about 15k less than a R. I admit the R is sweet though!

My buddy has an R and it's no doubt a sweet truck but if it were my money I'd be getting a TRX. That said, I've had a few Raptors and that segment of truck is of no longer of interest to me.

Mind sharing why? What is it you love that much more about the tremor? It’s a cool truck!

I don’t dislike the Raptors/TRX, they just aren’t a good example of a truck to do “real” truck stuff with. If you don’t mind the rear squatting to the bumps with 5000lbs behind it and if you don’t need more than a 1000lb payload then they are fine. I have a few buddies who use them as their daily but short of luggage or an ice chest they don’t do much with them in way of being used as a truck. City boys living that city boy life, for that they are a great option, or if you want a hot rod pickup that can play in the dirt occasionally they excel there obviously.

If you tow heavy, expect a bed to accept it’s rated payload without squatting like a Carolina Lean truck and you want to get more than 9-12 mpg then a diesel HD truck is the better choice. The drawbacks are the size, weight, stiffer ride and possibly the added maintenance if buying a diesel. Different strokes for different folks.

The obvious answer is that both a SD Tremor for real truck work + "R" for fun are requirements in the stable.

My 2 cents, IFS to solid axle of any type is a change of feel. I came from a plushy 2003 Chevy 2500 back to a solid axle Tremor. 37in tires' 47 Ft TP and 43 Rear TP and RC V2 shocks.....I think it rides wonderfully.....for a solid axle 3/4 Ton 7700lb truck.

I like the ride from my 2022 F-250 Tremor Power Stroke. It tows like a beast as well.

Why not get a SD Tremor with 37s and A Carli Pintop or E-Venture systems? Won't that completely change the ride of the truck?

Gets better - but not a Raptor or 1/2 ton ride. I like mine with 37's and E-Venture - but if I did not tow heavy - I would have a 1/2 ton.
