ready to order 2 last decisions to make sunroof and sidesteps

The panoramic sunroof was a non-starter for me. I am a big fan of and really wanted the the King Ranch interior but was unable to delete the sunroof from that package, so I went with the Platinum. I have owned three vehicles with sunroofs and never used them or they break and leak.

That article is ridiculous.. If you don’t like/want one, don’t get one.. Thats why they’re options and we’re able to personalize our trucks.. But of the 8 reasons in that article, not one is valid ?
I had a laugh too. How do you test the wind drag? Headroom and price are the only 2 realistic ones.

off road people do swear it reduces roof strength

I love my power deployable running boards. They give the truck an appearance of lifted higher and they are the first truly usable running boards I've ever had. I got front Ford mud flaps from the factory to help keep mud and snow off them. I'm a top less Jeep and Mustang guy so the sunroof was a great option for me. I put it back and slide the back window over and get a nice draft.
There are obvious disadvantages to either option. I went all out because at that price point what's another couple thousand?! ?

Headroom is negligible.. It appears to be recessed into the headliner.. I’m 6’4” and prob have 5” above my head ??‍♂️

Price is realistic, I suppose.. Just too broad and really applies to every option on the truck.

it did make me laugh though ?

The Sunroof is one of my favorite things about our truck. I wouldn't order another without it.

I have 3 kids ranging from 6 to 12 and they all climb in and out without a problem using the Tremor steps. We do have to use a step stool when transporting the elderly though.

I second (or third) the previous comment about door and body protection provided by the Tremor steps. The location of the steps is in the exact right place for most car doors to hit. The idea of a careless person slamming their door into a powder coated metal step rather than my door or cab is comforting. In fact I would love to see their face as it would probably take a decent chunk out of their door. (I am not typically negative and do not wish harm on most, but there is not much I despise more than someone whom causes damage to someone else's vehicle.)

I skipped the drop down steps. I love the look and function of the high Tremor side steps. Sure they're more difficult to use than normal steps but not prohibitively hard. The door ding protection is great.

I keep a little folding step stool between the front seat and the B pillar. It's easy to get to from the front or rear and I pull it out for the two passengers that use it, my wife and my mom. Dad brought me up right so I'm over on that side of the truck opening the doors for the ladies anyway. He's not around anymore but I still fear him kicking my @&%!^ if he caught them getting in by themselves. Using the stool makes them both smile and giggle so it's wins all around.

I have a sunroof and power deployed boards on my Expy for 11 years. I had to replace both board motors and the sunroof tracks once in those 11 years.
I ordered both of them on my new truck.

Sunroof keep you track grease fresh. After 8 yrs mine harden up and cracked the plastic track system when I went to open it on day. I got the replacement parts off interweb for 150ish bucks and spent a day dropping the headliner and replacing...not hard just a big headliner in expy el...same with the power board motors 125 bucks for the motor and 2.5 hrs each to replace...like 8 bolts and the entire running board comes off.

My only complaint about power running boards...if you just open the door and try to get something out of the console from standing outside the truck and you don't let the board come down 1st your shins are gonna know it. I am 6' 3" and I have level kit and 35s on my expy so it catches me right in the middle of the shin.

I've only had one vehicle with a sunroof in my life. It was neat, but completely unnecessary. To each his own, though. I prefer not to buy options I won't use.

As for the running boards, I prefer the fixed raptor style boards myself. One fewer mechanical part to fail. Extra stick-out adds door ding protection. The step is extra grippy. It also helps if I need to step up on the rear tire to reach into the bed. Leveled, the step height (ground to top of board) is 24 inches. It's fine for me since I have no problem stepping on it. It helps I'm 6'1" and not that old yet. My friends/family are not quite as leggy or "youthful" as I am, though. Eh... Whatever?

Love the sunroof for the ventilation. If you crack the sunroof open (popped up, not rolled back) and open the back slider you get great airflow and very little noise. Much better than rolling the window down. Check it out on a test drive.

My 2 cents
Love the sunroof
Love the tremor running boards.
They look really good and do protect the side of your truck!
To each their own though and get what you want. I never question what someone gets for their options. That’s why you have options. Just enjoy the truck!!!

I ordered a 22 platinum Tremor but I have 2016 f150 lariat blackout with moonroof & power running boards. I’m 6’1” & love them them both. Moonroof leaked a few years ago but got the drain fixed & no problems since. Power Boards just needs some lube every 6-8 months.

If I had to choose between the sunroof and the winch, here is the thought that I had... I can see myself now being really stuck, and as I look out the window of the sunroof I’m thinking, I should have ordered the winch.

Had to fix the sunroof and the power boards in my 150 platinum and the sunroof on my 250 king ranch. No more sunroofs. No more power boards. Tremor steps. Definitely.

Not a sunroof guy and is an expensive option. Personally I like the Tremor more with raptor style running boards. Both options are also more prone to have problems.

About ready to order my 22 250 lariat tremor 7.3 and i can't decide on two things. Sunroof and side steps. The ford sunroof is a cool feature but expensive and seems like a lot of people have problems with them. Also the tremor sits pretty high so side steps are definitely needed. I have only ever driven a platinum tremor that had powered steps. They seem like they might drop down lower than the black standard tremor steps. So is the step difference worth $1000? I also would prefer less chrome. I am 6' 2" so not a big deal to me but the wife and kids will need all the help they can get. So please give your opinions on the sunroof and steps and why you feel that way.

Thanks.

Matt
Bought a 2019 off the lot with the sunroof, and it leaked and ruined the driver side. Apparently there are drains that easily clog if you park your truck outside. Bullshit!!!
I ordered my 2021 with no sunroof and I love it. The piece of mind is worth it. Once you have a sunroof issue with any car you won’t buy a car with one ever again.
I also deleted the roof clearance lights with my order. No holes in this guys roof!

Sunroof no. Folding running boards definitely yes. A sunroof just adds to heating up the interior of the car. We live in Arizona and we know about heat and how hot the interior in a vehicle can get. The folding running boards are great. Yes, they sit lower than the other running boards when deployed.
