2022 F250 Lariat Tremor 7.3 Carbonized Gray
About ready to order my 22 250 lariat tremor 7.3 and i can't decide on two things. Sunroof and side steps. The ford sunroof is a cool feature but expensive and seems like a lot of people have problems with them. Also the tremor sits pretty high so side steps are definitely needed. I have only ever driven a platinum tremor that had powered steps. They seem like they might drop down lower than the black standard tremor steps. So is the step difference worth $1000? I also would prefer less chrome. I am 6' 2" so not a big deal to me but the wife and kids will need all the help they can get. So please give your opinions on the sunroof and steps and why you feel that way.

Thanks.

Matt

Love my sunroof! One of my favorite options.. Zero problems with it or any sunroof on past vehicles.. I went with standard Tremor steps.. I think they look way better but I’m sure the powered steps are easier for shorter people to use.

I’ll jump in here (there will be many opinions). Here’s what I say: if you are gonna be on-road most of the time and not in the mud/snow a lot, I’d go with the retractable steps; the sunroof is a nice option but is not something I would necessarily order, especially if you are gonna have a roof rack/platform. I have the fixed raptor style side steps and like them (to the chagrin of the ladies in my household). I also have the sunroof, which I am indifferent to (I bought my tremor from dealer inventory versus ordering it, so there was some compromise). This probably doesn’t help, but it’s my two cents. ?

Im 6'1 with 34 inseam and I would rather have the power steps if I had a choice. the tremor step does offer better protection but I still would go with power steps. Im climb in and out of Electrical Bucket Truck daily and use to high steps but the way those power steps drop down and go up nearly flush is really sweet. I personally dont like the sun roof. Ive had them before, they look good but I just didnt open it much. And the sun is hot on your head when open.

I would go power steps. For the price there a great deal. And you have to option to turn them off from the cluster. Which can come in handy if your on some rough terrain and want to open the door to look ahead. I order them for my 22. However since I am getting the bench seat and not the console it’s not an available configuration Which is weird but now I’ll prob spend $1500 to 2k on AMP power steps. I also order with the sunroof. Never had one never thought I would want one. But that thing is amazing. It gives it a really open feeling. And if I have problems leaks or whatever so be it. But that’s just me. I went all in with this truck figured spend a little more and get what I not only need but want. Anyways good luck.

I went with the power deployable steps. It makes a huge difference for ease of entry. Unless you are planning to do a ton of off-roading and need the corner protection, it makes the truck a lot more livable. I also got the sunroof. I almost didn’t but changed my mind at the last minute because I was afraid I’d regret not getting it. So far, I love it. I’ve had my truck 9 months and have basically never had the shade closed.

Your gonna get lots of opinions but heres mine:

1. Tremor looks better with the tremor steps.... more "tremor" like
2. Tremor looks bad ass with tremor steps.
3. See #1 and #2

I also wouldn't have ordered the sunroof with a special order buttt, I also bought off the lot
and it had the sunroof and I love it. If i order again, i will order the sunroof for sure. Also, zero
issues with mine too.

I ordered my truck without a sunroof or powered steps. The sunroof looks really nice, but I was worried I would drop a kayak, canoe or ladder on it and have a mess on my hands.

I'm not into the power steps because of the climate in my area, so I don't have them. I do have a sunroof and like it. It was an impulse add-on my wife requested after we test drove a SD that had one. We have really enjoyed it. One thing worth noting is it is heavy (200-300 lbs) and comes right off your payload.

I’ve gotten a sunroof on every car/truck I’ve had. Then I realized that I never open them. So the tremor is the first one without and I don’t even notice. There’s actually more headroom without it.

IF you are parking in crowded lots… like that other thread about parking far away and someone still parks near you….

tremor fixed steps. They are the perfect width to protect your doors while messing up the doors of the inconsiderate jerk who threw open their door.

If youre still unsure/ on the fence, get powered steps. Better integration than the aftermarket options ( personal opinion) and still removable if you change your mind later, higher resale, etc…. than the fixed steps.

as for the sunroof, love mine. I Vent it for airflow, leave the shade open 98% of the time.

Just kick your passengers out and you get the payload back,

Then your also don't need retractable steps at that point either. :ROFLMAO:

Really? I guess I need to go look at a few

Being 5'8", the standard Tremor steps aren't really a problem for me (or my wife and kids for that matter). I'd say it's a matter of flexibility rather than height.

Anybody know of any reliability issues with the powered steps or sunroof? I know years ago ford had a lot of issues with the sunroof .

Here’s an article on why not to get a sunroof

That article is ridiculous.. If you don’t like/want one, don’t get one.. Thats why they’re options and we’re able to personalize our trucks.. But of the 8 reasons in that article, not one is valid ?
