ready to order 2 last decisions to make sunroof and sidesteps

Mine has tremor steps.

I'm 6', my wife is 5'10", both my kids are young and about 4'. We all get in and out easily.

I also bought a small, fold up, step that I keep under the back seat for when my 70yo short mom wants to go for a ride, but that's rare.

My wife has always had a sunroof in her cars, and she never opens them... For that reason, I did not waste money on a sunroof in my tremor.

Good luck with your new truck. I hope you love it.

Another fixed steps, no moonroof person here.

The moonroof just seemed to add weight, cost, and heat gain to no benefit. The last thing this truck seems to need is more glass to soak up the sun and more seals to leak water.

The steps are like a security blanket when the truck is in a parking lot. They also look great. The only thing to be aware of is they’re a very rough texture: they’ll bite your shins from time to time, and they will rough up any small children that attempt to enter your vehicle.

I've had a sunroof in every car and truck I've purchased in the last 20 years. I came to the conclusion that it's unnecessary. I rarely open it. My wife feels the same way too for her vehicles. My last truck had one and I very rarely used it. Even in vent mode. I do live in AZ, so summer certainly isn't the time to use a sunroof. For my 2022 on order, I opted to exclude the sunroof.

The running boards are a different thing. It's about being able to get into the vehicle. I had ordered a 2021 with powered running boards. They were nice. However, I didn't accept delivery of the truck due to quality issues. I've since ordered a 2022 and opted to stay with the Tremor running boards. People in AZ park close and ding doors. Buying a $75k+ truck, I'll let the Tremor boards provide some protection.

Go with what you feel best about. I'm just sharing my thoughts and experiences.

About ready to order my 22 250 lariat tremor 7.3 and i can't decide on two things. Sunroof and side steps. The ford sunroof is a cool feature but expensive and seems like a lot of people have problems with them. Also the tremor sits pretty high so side steps are definitely needed. I have only ever driven a platinum tremor that had powered steps. They seem like they might drop down lower than the black standard tremor steps. So is the step difference worth $1000? I also would prefer less chrome. I am 6' 2" so not a big deal to me but the wife and kids will need all the help they can get. So please give your opinions on the sunroof and steps and why you feel that way.

Thanks.

Matt
Retractable side steps are great, unless you live where it snows a lot. I've read & seen videos of guys having lots of problems with the steps getting stuck due to the snow, and some have suggested that may burn out the motors. I passed on the sunroof, just another place for leaks to develop & I rarely used them in vehicles I've driven with them, didn't like the sun beating down on me - bug under a magnifying glass. Hope this helps.

My kids and wife love the sun roof and I like the power steps they tuck Highup out of the way and you can turn them on and off you can leave them in the down position or leave them in the up opposition or auto

I would get powered steps for the family members. i have the sunroof and have no problem.

Last truck had sunroof and never used it. It lets bugs and dirty air in and it is a thermal and structural compromise.

Power steps are awesome. You can leave them deployed in parking lots to protect your doors.

I guess I'm old school...sunroofs and pickuos do not go together. Possible leaks and problems that a person doesn't need. Some things I've read on people that have crashed and the sunroof exploded out or in and suddenly your exposed to terra firma. Take every other option available except a sunroof. That's what sucks about the Super Duty Limited. Sunroof is standard and no way around it.

I would recommend the factory power steps, my 2020 has the non-powered version and im about to spend 1500+ on a set of aftermarket ones so my wife quits complaining.

I just bought a new 7.3 black tremor from the lot. It already had a sunroof which is nice, but I don’t really use sunroofs myself, but probably good for resale. I loved the look of the factory tremor running boards, but I leveled mine and put 37” tires on it, so those running boards are now to high for the wife. I didn’t want the chrome on the blacked out truck, so I put the AMP power steps on mine and I love them. They are good quality, all black, come down much lower, fairly easy to install, and have a 5 year warranty. My last truck was a 2017 250 platinum with the Ford power steps, I like the AMP just as much, just without the chrome accents. Most places they were $1,499, I found them on tonneaucover.com for $1,299 including shipping and sold the others for $500. Highly recommended!!

I did the sun roof because - HELL YES - it’s massive! Girls in bikinis love them. I know because I’ve seen that in music videos. Trust me. Girls. In. Bikinis.

I never will do power steps in Vermont due to road salt and off road driving.

That’s why I did what I did, mostly.

I ordered without both but ended up installing the factory power boards cheaper than the aftermarket versions. Loved the Tremor boards, just got tired of the high step and I am 5'11". Power boards are the perfect height and I can leave them out in parking lots for protection.

I have the sunroof and have used it once in 6 months. I would not order it again as it is expensive, one more failure point, and for me at least, not something I am using. Steps - I have the ones that came with it - the ones that are textured. Unless you lift the truck significantly, they are low enough that it's pretty easy to step up onto them then get in the truck.

I really like the black standard steps especially since my Tremor is black. I just like the look of the standard steps than the power ones anyways. The sunroof is working great but I just recently got the truck.

Sunroof no. Folding running boards definitely yes. A sunroof just adds to heating up the interior of the car. We live in Arizona and we know about heat and how hot the interior in a vehicle can get. The folding running boards are great. Yes, they sit lower than the other running boards when deployed.
Exactly- the casserole cover...
