Pompey’s F350 Tremor

While the truck was being worked on, I went over to a mates place. He has a house on the water-a popular thing on the Gold Coast. He’s getting his boat detailed.

I picked up the truck this afternoon (Thursday). I’ll be heading home Saturday morning. A sharp eye can see where at least some of the work has been done.

I’m pleased the truck is still quiet. Now to see what the fuel consumption is going to be. In a couple of weeks, I’m off to western Queensland.
Is that a bear at the bottom of the pool!? 🤪

Drove home from the coast this morning. It’s a bit difficult to give a definitive assessment of how the trucks performs, but it certainly looks like a positive step.

It’s difficult because I normally cruise out west where it’s pretty flat land, whereas today I was coming from sea level up over undulating and the climb up to 900 metres.

Even so, it’s looking like I might get up to 20% better fuel economy, which if it proves to be the case is significant. I was getting the same figures climbing the last 60kms that I get at the upper level normally.

The increased fuel economy means increased range, and thus less need to carry additional fuel in remote areas. So far then, it’s looking very positive.

I don’t think you can accuse me of rushing the service of the truck. Thankfully it’s not my daily driver.

Since the end of my south coast trip, I’ve done the following;

1) 4 new tyres
2) drained and flushed transmission, new filter
3) changed rear differential oil
4) changed transfer case oil
5) installed new dc2dc charger
6) installed relay into trailer battery charge circuit
7) repaired drivers side mirror folding function
8) relocated driving lights

In December, I’ll be transferring the registration of the truck from the state it’s registered in now, so I’ll be getting new number plates as well. A friend of mine can now do the annual roadworthy safety checks, which will make things less expensive.
