Yep. Probably drive out to Scottsdale the week before (work) then head to Flagstaff Thursday afternoon.

Will likely camp at expo too.

You can leave the Overland Expo West camping area and return later, including after show hours, as long as you keep your admission credentials and camping/vehicle hang tag with you

How in/out works
• You are allowed to exit the venue/campgrounds and come back to your campsite at any time, even when the exhibitor area is closed, provided you show your badge and the camping/vehicle tag at the gate.
• You may either leave your camp setup in place to hold your spot, or pack it up and be reassigned a campsite when you return by the camping staff.
• If you do not have your camping credentials when you come back, they will not let you re‑enter the venue or campgrounds.

A few practical notes
• Vehicle movement inside the grounds is allowed but they ask that you keep driving to a minimum for safety and dust/noise.
• Quiet hours start at 10 pm, so even though you can drive in after hours, it is courteous to arrive/park quietly at night.
• Check‑in to camping has specific hours (typically 8 am–6 pm Thu/Fri and slightly shorter on Sat); after that you can still come and go, but new arrivals get staged outside until check‑in reopens.

totally what my understanding was

plan to get a camp spot thursday morning as soon as they open

probably string up a tarp to hold my spot

adapt on the fly to whoever is around & who wants to go trail or expo. no expectations except at one point or another, 1 day or a little each day i do want to experience the expo completely.

I'll be there, but I'm camping on site and once there I don't really want to fight the traffic getting back out, and then back in. I've been before, and while checking out the gear is fun, for me it's more about the social aspect.

I'll definitely be interested in doing this next year, and just skipping the ExPo altogether.

I just got back from spending today at the show in Costa Mesa. It greatly exceeded my expectations. I have a shopping list of mods for this coming year that might make it to next year's show with all the show specials I saw there. I only had today there, and needed more time.
