Other Rides

I was not satisfied with all the bells and whistles and honestly didn’t need the tremor package. I prefer the more driving experience of the older vehicles verses the “aided” driving of todays technology.
I can identify with this. A few times recently when I've hopped in my old Power Wagon to drive it I've caught my stress levels spiking in anticipation of a barrage of chiming and warning text boxes on the display only to realize a moment later that it isn't happening because I'm not in one of my late model Fords.

If I transcribed a day's worth of the rage fueled vulgarities I spew at either Ford when I'm driving alone and posted it here, I'd likely get a swift permaban. What a sad state of affairs.

I love some of the stuff that is actually useful, like the 360 cameras which make parking and backing up to trailers so much better, modern audio/nav/phone interfacing and selectable information screens but anything that constantly critiques my every action or worse yet, actively interferes with my actions as a driver absolutely infuriates me. I don't appreciate spending a good 10+ seconds dismissing all the warnings I get for the stuff I've turned off.

Hopefully I can really dig into Forscan in the next few months (carefully, methodically) and silence /disable most of the annoyances. Then I won't walk away from the truck at the end of a rough day daydreaming about finding the one or two department heads most responsible for these trucks' insufferable behavior and beating them into a coma as a warning to the others.

Can't say the day won't come where if I can't defeat the surveillance state behavior sufficiently, I won't drop the price of a loaded new platty Tremor buying a clean used older truck and having it turned into what I want, close as possible.

Update: Harley Sold a few months ago, got replaced with a new '23 Indian Pursuit Dark Horse

I'm interested to understand the differences. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my bike, but have been too cheap to get off the cash. I'm on a street glide special and have been considering a road glide special.....Indian has interested me for a few years, but I have no practical experience riding one.

On one hand…. American V twin vs American v twin…

The switch from an RG to Indian Pursuit was fixed fairing to fixed fairing. You’re talking about fork fairing street glide to fixed fairing road glide. That might be a very significant change, I’m not sure.

Harley are still air cooled, the Indian Challenger and Pursuit are water cooled.

Style vise is always subjective, I never cared about the lower fairings until I saw the Pursuit in person, and I really liked them on that bike.

Additional luggage helped sell the wife, and she says it will get her back on it more. Remains to be seen, life has been rather busy…

When I tried to price compare feature for feature…. I was looking at 15-20 k more for the Harley.

In comparing dealers…. Sales people are sales people, but I’ve found the service/parts people at Indian to be more welcoming for lack of a better word. That’s at 1 Indian dealer vs 4 different Harley dealers I’ve ever dealt with. Of course everyone welcomes money spent… but the Harley folks seemed to come across like they were doing me a favor and it wears on a person

This is purely my POV and experience. I still like HD bikes, and it’s not unlikely I own another someday.

Go to a dealer and ask for a test ride!

I appreciate the detailed response. I've been drawn to Road Glides for a long time. When I picked up my Street Glide, I couldn't pass on the deal so I grabbed it. Looking at another bike, 2023 models specifically, the cost for a Road Glide is kind of crazy. I can't justify it.

I hope to get a ride on an Indian this summer and hope that the dealer experience is better than what I've had with HD. I do most of my service myself, so I never deal with them for that, but on the sales side it's been a joke.

In 1978, my High School graduation gift was a new BMW R60. That started a 30 + year love of bikes. In no order, I've owned a couple Ducati Monsters, a couple BMW GS's, a Triumph Speed Master, Scrambler, and my favorite a couple Triumph Tigers. All that remains today is a couple 1978 Honda 90's I bought in 2016. One has 250 miles on it, the other has maybe 500 miles on it. I don't remember exactly, I've never ridden either. They've been

wrapped in blankets and stored in my garage since I bought them.

One of my other rigs. It’s a blast to drive around in. 4x4 hi/lo, 5 speed manual, A/C, rear diff lock and even has hydraulic dump bed. Arguably more useful then my F-350.

Those things look so fun! I have seen a few running around here now and then.
I could see myself owning one at some point, do you have any links to good internet resources to learn more about them like forums or whatever? If you could copy/paste a few bookmarks as a starting point, that would be greatly appreciated.

10k for truck plus lift rims and tires. I’m in maple syrup land so this is in beaver bucks.
Damn, I might rather get that than a side by side. Just want it for my acerage anyway 😎

There is a place near me that deals with these:

And these sites:

If you do an internet search for "kei" or "mini" truck you'll find lots of info...

Honestly man. Its way better then a side by side. Sure there are positives and negatives to each. But heat, A/C, dump bed, diff lock street legal, the list goes on. I’m 6’ and fit fine. Head room is no issue it’s the legs. I use it when I don’t want to drive my one ton box truck or my one ton cclb f-350.
