Incorrect payload numbers by Ford

I’ve seen 2 articles and I don’t see mention of F250s specifically. I only see specifics for 2020 6.7 and superduty.
i would not even assume it to be Tremor specific
I re-read the articles and apparently I was just adding the 250 part for fun. I stand corrected. Hopefully it doesn’t effect any of us.

A while back on the Big Truck Big RV youtube channel, he road-tested a 2020 longbed SRW 350 6.7. In the video, it shows the payload sticker, and the payload was over 4000lbs. That might an example of the issue.

I remember that video

My truck falls within the proposed windshield recall so we shall see.
Yep. The windshield recall seems like it would apply to almost everyone on this forum.

7.3's for the win! It's just a diesel problem!

Just kidding!

??7.3 ?? I am not in the windshield build date bracket either

I read about both recall notices on the "Ford Authority" email that I receive. According to this website the recall notices will be sent out sometime in March for the payload/towing capacities and sometime in April for the windshield recall.

It says the payloads where over exaggerated. I see Ford being forced to buy back or replace trucks.
If you buy a truck specifically because it fits your requirements based on their error, I can completely see them having to buy back the trucks.
I can’t see why. You only see the sticker after purchase. Maybe if you bought something for the truck after purchase based on that information Ford should pay up. Or if the information they provided prior to purchase was wrong.

And now we know why Ford doesn't show you this on the build and price. You pick the options you want and you get what you get.

Honestly I don't get the excitement over this, the payload sticker is just a 'convenience sticker' anyway for people that can't do simple math. It's not like they have the GVWR or axle stickers wrong... those are the ones that matter. Those stickers didn't even exist until 2008-2009 somewhere in there.

I think people are sometimes misled by them. I know in the Truck camper world people use this sticker to compare campers (usually dry) and then think the can carry that capacity... forgetting that passengers, tools, modifications etc come off that number. That number also expects some of the weight will be on the front axle which is hard to actually achieve. I've weighed my camper.... it adds 150lbs to the front axle. You can still override your RAWR or tire capacity before you get to the magical cargo capacity.

Also as soon as you add accessories such as bumpers, tools, winches etc. then the sticker number is no longer valid anyway.

$0.02

Ill be compelely honest. When i was looking, you bet i checked the door sticker on every truck i test drove, to meet my weight requirements. If they didnt, i didnt look at that truck. So if my truck wont legally meet the requirements of my camper, then this was a waste of 70k for me and ill have to get a different truck. I would expect some sort of compensation from Ford if i have go through the worst case.

This is very true and why I always advise friends and family who are looking to buy a trailer to never tow marginally.
Just getting by is not a safe approach.

By the numbers my F150 could pull my trailer but after overheating multiple times and having to replace a transmission, I’ve decided overkill is a good thing.

The payload sticker is right in the driver door jam. Literally every time you open the drivers door, it’s right there.
