@Bitsniffer, S&B or Titan?

I’ve been told that S&B copied the Titan mold and doesn’t actually hold an additional 5 gallons of fuel. An internet search produces some discouraging comparisons and unhappy customers on both sides of the fence, but I’ve found more negative stories about S&B. That still doesn’t tell me anything, because I don’t know who sells more tanks. Maybe there are more negative S&B stories because they sell 20 times as many tanks?

Sorry, should have commented - S&B. Have driven it down to around 7 miles left and can definitely watch the DTE change disproportionally to miles driven as you get closer to empty. I ended up getting around 57 to 58 gallons in at that time.

I did the same middle of last year/late spring last year. Roll in Eco and keep it 68-72 mph, and you'll pick it up from 18 mpg to in the 20's. I've gotten my tank to read 1152 m to E before! When you fill up, let the handle pop, wait 30 seconds or more for the air to settle and then top off. It helps the sensor for some reason.
I have the 60-gallon tank and CAN NOT let the handle pop, as the diesel will shoot out the neck until foam and air displacement adjust. As soon as I hear a major tone change, I adjust/reduce flow until foam disappears and slowly fill to a full tank, which is actually visible in the fuel neck. I'm getting around 1200 miles with a full 60-gallon tank.

I have the S&B 60 and my fill technique is exactly as yours. I too have to listen and manually slow down in order not to make a diesel mess. My right foot however weighs a lot more than yours and is not capable of anywhere near the mileage that you get.

Are you using high flow tanks like used for tractor trailer rigs or just regular pumps?

Regular pumps for me. I have not had an occasion to try the commercial pumps.
Never had a problem with it blowing back. After it shuts off, I will over fill with it running slowly and watch the bubble. Can usually get an extra gallon or two in.

Both as avaialble. Bucees, Loves, Pilot, Shell, 5-star, etc. high and regular flow no difference it will shoot out the neck. I am a high mileage driver and add additive equal to fill-ups.

I've seen 1143 miles DTE with my S&B 60.

One of the problems with this tank is that some of the extra capacity is above the level of the float, and this isn't accounted for correctly by the tank level - you will see 100% full on the gauge for longer than it should. This means that the DTE will be optimistic until the tank start getting empty - not a huge problem, but something to keep in mind if you like to run the tank empty (which you probably shouldn't with a diesel).

Either way, the S&B tank is amazing - easy self-install using ratchet straps or a ATV lift. The filler neck is a bit of pain to align and install, but it's a 3 hour job done in your driveway......

My custom off-road shop installed my tank and adjusted the tank size via FORScan. My DTE (900-1100) just varies, and I'm good with that.

DTE is more accurate as the fuel level gets lower. Always spot on when I run the numbers by hand.

Is it possible to change the computer in the 23+ trucks to reflect realistic DTE? I’d hate to do a tank swap and not be able to change the computer to the capacity of these larger aftermarket tanks.

As I stated above your question, that is what was done. DTE is more of a driving habit with knowns at that time based on driving habits. A FORScan adjustment is possible, and it was done in my case. Trust me, it's not an issue. If FORScan is not adjusted, then I am unsure what the DTE does, and it wouldn't feel right.
