Something like that would work well. One thing I should mention too is that the entire OEM filler... Uh... Box? Is that what you'd call it? Cavity? Well, the entire thing is made out of plastic and is attached to the aluminum body. So yes, it is pretty darn flimsy from the factory compared to the pre-alumiduty models. It is plenty enough to last the lifetime of the truck, but any meaningful security against well-equipped vandals is pretty much nonexistent.

Just curious, what is the targeted threat of your concept? Vandals? Fuel thieves? Is the target customer going to be Powerstroke owners only or will this also cater to the Godzilla folks?

Vandals or tree huggers, the issue is contaminating an expensive fuel or DEF system and trashing the CP4 pump which will in turn take out even more parts, and destroying an engine potentially depending on the contaminant. Fuel thieves will always get fuel if they want it bad enough (puncturing tank) so everything is just a deterrent in today's world.

I can definitely see that as an issue in your parts. Over in my neck of the woods, it's much less of an issue. But my truck doesn't always stay in the same spot. It would be nice to have some level of protection no matter where I am.

How are you planning on securing the lock box to the filler assembly? Also, I think this is definitely cheaper to produce. It is much easier to stamp out sheet metal than to machine custom caps. I'm tempted to make a one-off version for myself at some point. I have an untreated addiction to hobbyist-level fabrication.

The box shouldn't need drilling or rivets. Take the caps with tethers off, and place the box over the necks; the laser cut stainless filler neck holes in the box acts as a chinese finger trap; if you've seen the captive steel washers that are on bolts, it's the same principle. Then replace caps; should be a one minute install.

I like the idea, but I'm concerned about any rattling if tolerances aren't tight enough. Or even if they are, there may still be a bit of wiggle. Sorry, I have no ideas to suggest outside of drilling into the truck. I don't mind drilling, but I know most others on here would.

I wouldn't design something that's going to rattle. I also don't want the box door getting in the way of the pump handle or falling down onto the body.
 
very interested would this have keys to lock and unlock i am guessing?
 
I wish we could rig up a door lock actuator and just make the fuel door lock with the rest of the doors, even if a new fuel bay/door needed to be fabricated. I do like the concepts on here, just hate carrying keys!

I'm not so much worried about the pilfering of the fuel but the contamination of it and the DEF by botards. I am interested and will definitely purchase. I am also willing to entertain seed money to get this going.

Hopefully that won't be necessary. I do need my truck delivered and in front of me to actually start getting all nerdy with CAD and material selection. 🤓
