Extended Warranty

But isin't that buying a warranty to cover items already covered by the factory warranty for a period of time???? Sounds like doubling up to me. I plan to buy just before my 3/36 expires..... 10k-36k is already covered.
What your paying for is years 4 +. Not years 1 thru 3. And your price keeps going up for the added years as time passes. It lets you do it either way, when new all the way till your last day before your 3/36 expires. Like I said the price went up for me about 700.00 from when I bought it until just checking last week. 2 years apart.

Correct, and I think all extended warranties are that way. When I was warranty shopping, I looked at one from EG Assurance. It worked the same way.

As you found out, some dealers will try and sell you a third party extended service contract over the Ford ESP. Don’t do it! Most Third party contracts aren’t worth the ink used to print them out. They roll into town and offer the dealerships (and especially the F&I dept!) larger than life profit margins for the dealers and after a few years of flooding the market with their useless plans they go “out of business” just to reappear with a new name to start the scams all over again. Easy money!

Here’s the litmus test for my statement:
When the dealer tries jamming the third party contract down your throat, tell them you’ll get it if they do one thing. Put it in writing on company letterhead as part of the deal that if the plan that they love so much goes belly up, cancels your contract, fails to honor their coverage, denies valid claims or hangs up on you, the dealer will refund every penny that you paid them.
Then see what they say.
Hint- They won’t do it.
Run Forrest, RUN!! 😉

Stick with the Factory plans. Rather than buying them thru Ford-Direct at full pop, get quotes from online dealers to get the best prices around. The online dealers are set up for a one stop purchase that involves no actual person for the sales process (unless you request one). No person equals no high commissions to be paid out, which means lower prices for you.

Best of luck!

I'd actually bought a EG Assurance warranty from the dealer, but canceled it when I actually got the paperwork. What I negotiated with the dealer was a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty. The paperwork the dealer gave me was for 8 1/2 years. I assumed that was somehow tied to after the BtoB warranty. But when I got the actual EG Assurance paperwork, it clearly and unambiguously ran from the date the new truck was put into service, the date I purchased it. In other words, the dealer had sold me a contract that would only do anything for five years. Fortunately the EG Assurance warranty allowed for cancelation without penalty, and I immediately did. That's when I did some searching and found Granger with real Ford warranties.

Did the dealer try to cheat me or were they confused? I've got to admit, it's possible they were confused. The place was chaos. In either case, however, it wasn't OK.

What Ford ESP are you guys recommending? Im torn between Premiumcare and the next level down which is Extracare

I did a side by side comparison of the Extra Care and Premium care- and while premium care states over 1000 covered items vs 113 for extra care- most of the premium care items are irrelevant to our platform (head lamp washers for example) and my Lariat build. I’ve got just enough tech to have some electronic woes.

To get LED headlamp coverage you must first buy the Premium care- and then you have to pay a separate $100 add on to cover the light housings and internals- the other key coverage items that matter (to me) and differ from extra care are selectable hubs and bearings $$&, front and rear wheel bearings,PCM and a list of powertrain related sensors.

Led headlight assy is about $1200 just for the part, front wheel bearing replacement per side is avg $800 (dealer price with labor) per side, hub assembly is $$$ expensive as well.

Is the life expectancy of wheel bearings, hub assembly’s LED headlamps 100,000, 150,000 ? The difference in price between Extra and Premium is about $1000 for 8yr 125k.

I generally keep trucks for 7-8yrs. I’ve used every extended warranty I’ve ever bought for my vehicles- and they paid for them selves on the mechanical side. I’ve hardly experienced electronic failures-

Going through similar thought process

Where do people end up on this? Is Premium worth it over Extra? I was going to wing it but I just had $16k of repairs approved on my Raptor under ESP so the SD is getting one too.🤕

One stop…Granger Ford for the Premium Care Warranty.

Premium all day! Now get rid of that Raptor 🤪.

Ziegler / Flood / Granger. Price all three. Make sure you ask them why their fees are if not explicitly stated. That could make or break the best advertised price.
