Extended Warranty

I am looking at getting an extended warranty. This is all new to me since my previous trucks were leased. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Thanks,
I bought the ESP from Granger Ford, I got the 7 years 100k with 100 dollar Duct. I bought it 10 months after new with 10k on it. I paid 2145 with the LED and Key Fob. But 14 months later (today) the same plan is 2840. So you can wait until the end of factory warranty and the price will keep going up or you can get it now. Cant see it staying the same price year after year. JMO.

You are correct, and to be clear, Zack does make a point to give a heads up on the forum when he receives information on price increases for the plans they sell. There’s typically an increase annually at the least. These price increases would affect all plan sellers’ prices.

I got mine through Corwin Ford because that’s the dealer near where I live. They strongly suggested I go with Fidelity instead of Ford, since Ford plans are limited to Ford dealers only and Fidelitycovets any ASE certified work. Doesn’t help much if you’re hundreds of miles away from a dealer. I’m sure there’s a profit motive in there somewhere! I have found that some aftermarket plans don’t offer much, but Fidelity on paper seems to be better. You don’t have to shell out your own $ and then wait weeks to be reimbursed which is nice. After this summer I’ll find out if that was a good choice if and when I need to use it.

There have been threads on this topic before and everyone has their own opinions on all this so you should get some good responses.
Corbin in Nampa? I got my truck from them. Not for sure of what the name was for the extended warranty. Used it at 38k for a LED headlight and the bill was 1500.00. I paid 100. Very worth the money. Got the 100k plan. It's pretty much already paid for itself.

I don't think you can beat the deal offered By Granger Ford out of Iowa. They are very easy to work through on line, several levels of coverage. It's the Ford factory plan offered at a discount through Granger. It's visible and recognized by all Ford authorized service centers. Many forum members have purchased this plan. I believe Flood Ford offers similar deals on line.
@zach@granger has been a great resource for Tremor Forum members.

Yes, this is correct and GOOD advise. I too went with Granger in Iowa and it was easy as pie, quick, super cheap (compared to other local dealers) and painless. Shop it around first then call Granger and you will be surprised at how reasonable and really nice they are. Lance

I just went with Granger 10yrs / 100k / $100 with all the new technology and cost or parts was a $3200 gamble , also did the lighting for extra $70 bucks , with my Tremor has the Platinum package more electronic crap to break . I just found out Granger also does Ram trucks also , I have a 3500 Cummins for towing does not do much driving local is why i went with the F350 7.3 as my DD great for quick early warm ups and idle time just change the oil and not worry about the DEF and regens

Can you choose a more basic plan while adding a lighting coverage option? I thought you had to choose a higher tier coverage to get lighting coverage...

You can go on the site and build packages and check prices. I’m sure you can add lighting and other coverages individually to any plan.

Once you select your package then it will ask if you want to add the LED lighting package and key Fob add ons.

Ya’ll say Grainger sells $25 above cost- how do you know what “cost” is?

OK, now you goobers have me confused. I'll call my stealership to verify but i was always under the impression the b-b coverage was 3/36K... Where did the 4/40K come from? 2022 model year.

I'm sitting at 34k right now and do plan to buy an ESP from Grainger when my B-B expires.

When I bought my extended warranty, I was told I could buy it prior to 40K miles. I think that's where the 4/40 is coming from. You will not have warranty coverage after the 36K B-B lapses. But you can purchase an extended warranty prior to reaching 40K miles. After that you will have to source from a non Ford provider such as Carshield.

I tried to get a quote, but no go in CA. My dealer quoted $4800 for 10yr/100k B to B. I'm only at 4k miles after 3 months with 28 of those days in the shop for trans leak. We'll see how this goes, 2 more days in the shop over the next 15 months and I'll have a different option to look into.

Because of specific state laws, some states don't allow these programs from out of state sources. Sucks

Do you know anyone who has a mailing address in another state you can use? Ford doesn't care where you live. This is a California law that prevents all the crazy warranty calls which it did, but it had the unintended effect of the consumer not being able to buy extended across state lines. I have friends who have put down an out-of-state relative's address and had zero issues. This is what I intend to do toward the end of the year when my warranty runs out and we all live in Cali.

Thank you for the carification.

Good tip. I have several relatives in Washington State. That dealer $4800 quote is now $3425. I'm not buying yet, but this seems the best way to go.

FYI I just purchased mine at 35500 mi. If you purchase before 36k there isn't an inspection but over 36k there is. Also you must wait 31 days before a claim. I would purchase when your about a month out of going past 36k so there's no gap in coverage.

But isin't that buying a warranty to cover items already covered by the factory warranty for a period of time???? Sounds like doubling up to me. I plan to buy just before my 3/36 expires..... 10k-36k is already covered.
