EGT and Oil Temps while towing heavy

So either a reading is off the wrong EGT sensor....or the sensor is dead.....or the truck is deleted.
100% agree on this. I'm guessing Painless is reading one of the DPF sensors since it's changing values just way to low.

I would hope the tuners don't just blanket kill all EGT probes as that one right before the turbo is your most important one for turbo health. Though might be part of the EGR system as your picture suggest.

EGRT11, mounted in the right side exhaust up pipe behind the right side cylinder head.
EGRT12, located on the EGR cooler near the intake manifold.

The PCM compares EGRT11 vs EGRT12 to monitor EGR cooler efficiency, if the delta between them shrinks, the cooler is clogging up.

I'll have to go check my edge to see what the sensor is called.

Great feedback fellas! I feel much better about my temps, other than my EGTs. My truck has no emissions, I was told I could pull one of the sensors off the DPF, so that’s what I did. I am using the port right on the top passenger side the engine. First I tried plugging in to the original connector that is tucked under and realized my tune had turned off all EGT readings. That when bought one of the Banks EGT sensors and modules. The problem I ran into was the EGT sensor from Banks was too small so I just peeled back the metal insulation that was on the sensor off my DPF and solved in the connector off the Banks sensor. This is the only way I could get a reading on my I dash. Obviously I have something wrong or my sensor is bad.
How are you guys with a deleted 22 seeing your EGTs?

This is exactly what is happening. It shuts off all EGT readings.

Don’t worry about that oil temp. According to lake speed jr most oils additive pack doesn’t really start to work well until over 200 degrees. Under 300 degrees that oil is perfectly fine in that range.

@Painless : Get the Banks EGT sensor, if you have the blank plate port use that area to for the EGT sensor.

I wanted to do the same thing on my 2015, but it never worked. I got the Edge CTS3 and Edge EGT sensor...worked as it should.

I did get the Banks EGT sensor but was too small for the fitting which is why I tried to use the factory sensor off my DPF and spliced the connector.

That's weird, but to clarify. The spot on the motor is a blocking plate with the NPT port, correct? Not an OEM location on any OEM piping.

Seems like the below would have fit properly if the aftermarket plate was drilled/tapped correctly.

That is correct, it would not fit the block off plate. See pic.

yea I know for a fact Chaos and AMDP turn off and or change the egt sensor, CHAOS has them turned off.

AMDP uses the sensor but you have to take the first DPF sensor off and move it up to the manifold, but you have to use an EZL to view it, it will not scale correctly with banks or CTS (straight from Giovanni @ AMDP).

Ahhhhhh....they welded on a larger NPT or something that possibly allowed the OEM EGT sensor to be used.

I'd get that bung swapped out to the proper size for your Banks. You might be able to find a reducer to use as well.

By using the Banks module, that should by pass anything the tune has turned off. I think the factory sensor or my splice (which I have tries polarity both ways and got the same result) is not working properly with my Banks module. I may buy another Banks sensor and try to find a reducer to fit the block off plate or find a different block off plate to fit the Banks.
Not sure how else to fix my issue.

This is what I don't understand why all those connections cannot be managed independently.
You would think they could keep the OEM connections live for proper use. At least AMDP told you what's happening. Guess we just need to be sure to have an EGT sensor and proper fitting to use on the motor.  🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲

Well....you can see by your own device that's not true. Banks isn't overriding the PCM, it's reading through/from the PCM (and any sensors). If the PCM (by tuning) has turned OFF a connection/reading...Bank's is blind.

I hate to tell you to spend more money, get a new sensor to read it right, make sure it fits the port, and be happy.:cool:🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

My understanding is that not all egt sensors are equal based on what Gio told me and that is why he said you have to use this one from x position and not the one from the egr crossover pipe.

I wish I could remember which sensor I used but it’s been about a year since I did this. I am going to try to find the correct parts and try to get this right.

Well I've always heard you need a DPF EGT sensor BUT it always seemed to be you need it connected on the DPF harness, not the under-hood harness.

However it's done with the OEM/deleted stuff, I've always resorted to just using whatever device (Edge or Banks) EGT sensor plugged into the device harness directly.

back to your other comment, I know Alex (ASAP) is working (and has a beta file) for turning the OEM EGT sensor back on but it's not a final tune.

you all need some sensors.... I'd contact AMDP directly, not through a reseller. Resellers don't always have current information on how the tune handles sensor circuits.
