Drivers door handle swap

Absolutely nothing against the handle swap methods that have been already posted in this thread but I just wanted to offer up one other option that is extremely easy. Each of the MY22 handle covers have two tabs that must be pulled apart simultaneously to allow them to be separated from the handle. After pulling the tabs apart, the cover can simply be rotated outward without removing the handle itself. I completed the handle swap this evening after work in under a minute. I have a video of the swap but it is too large to add to the post.

So this removes the key hole, but leaves the still vulnerable lock core? Or is this after the lock delete to have a cleaner look than the plastic filler plug?

For me, it is because of the pictures below. I was sitting in a client's boardroom yesterday in San Antonio doing a sales presentation and right outside the window my truck alarm went off. I grabbed my FOB out of my pocket and looked at the truck to turn off the alarm,. and saw someone in my truck. They broke the key lock and destroyed the lock on my Console Vault (Console Vault customer service is awesome - free replacement already on the way - going keyed instead off combo due to much harder to grab with channel locks). I am eliminating one way or another that key cylinder so it is harder to get in the truck.

The whole thing took less than 30 second from alarm going off, to back in the getaway car.

This is a couple years old, but since the design is the same and as far as I can tell, Console Vault is using brass locks. I want a key tumbler as well, the numbers are too small. I drew this up and had it laser cut thinking I could reinforce by running two 6mm bolts through the top and installing on the underside of the lid. The lock in the pictures is just a cheap $7 one from Amazon.

Camlock locks are steel bodied, and the only steel ones I can find. But, it looks like they only sell to distributors??? I'll have to call. I ordered a keyed lock from CV, they look like they are made by Kennedy. I'll have to check it out in a day or two when it gets here. Other than the lock, it's pretty cheap to have these cut. Worth it or am I wasting my time?

When they see the keyless touch pads, they know the key lock cylinder should be there too and they do it with the door handle pulled out, not through the little hole. It was both fascinating and maddening to watch how quick and easy it was on the security video.

I am probably just asking for a smashed window next time, but you gotta try, right?

Bastards finally got me

I’ve always preferred the SPST (tube or barrel) to the std key locks. Most tweakers don’t have a clue as to how to pick them. Whereas most of the std locks are easily picked. I went thru the pick training many years (decades) ago. I am a popular guy in the neighborhood when someone locks him/herself out of their house, shed, bedroom, office, etc..
Most padlocks can be picked within five seconds. Sad to say.
