I'm in! My truck finally made it to Long Beach from Guam via Japan and China and will be delivered to me at the end of this week. My better half is a big maybe as she'll be arriving just before the meet with the pups (which is a super stressful journey for them and the dog parents!). I might get a friend to tag along for the drive, but in any case, my Tremor and I will be there. Going to change the vote right now.

Myself, modified, and Legmar are studying 3 routes currently 🙃! We are looking at 21+ trucks going down the road, what a statement that will be. We have to keep in mind there will be ladies & children traveling with some, there won't be any or very few facilities to take care of possible needs, so we have to keep that in mind. We are going to do a test run real soon, find the best that everyone will enjoy. More to come!

Fantastic. Thanks to all of you for doing the hard work! I'm curious if we can set up a channel on GMRS with a privacy code for comms?

Don’t be too easy now! We still want to have some fun if we’re gonna drive all that way! Haha
 
Maybe have two groups, one for the diehards and the other for who may need restroom facilities. 😅

Hope there's at least one decent water crossing..

The shortest route has 2 crossings and the longer has 5 (if I counted correctly). Unknown if these are dry beds or have water flowing. Will be interesting what the guys find driving the routes.

As far as my family concerned, we can restroom
Anywhere. I want the crossings for sure. Haha

UPDATE#####UPDATE#####UPDATE

Today I spoke with management at the awesome CCOOPERS REAL PIT BBQ, I have made arrangements for us to occupy an overflow room that seats 60 people. I don't think we will have that many folks, but predict 35 to 40 with ride alongs and family members. They open at 11am, but told me we could go in at 1030, but plan to stick with 11am. With that our official meet time will be 10am to allow time for introductions amongst forum members, trucks, etc! Was advised ample parking for our group, I have prior experience and equipment for reserving parking spots!!!! We need to enter at 11am, get our food ordered and consumed and head to the trail. For those unfamiliar with coopers, you actually pick your meat of choice right from the pit. Then your sides. Meat is by the pound, sides alacarte. I will eat anything, but beef ribs are my favorite!! (See pic) There is one route that is about an hour longer than 2 others, has 5 river/creek crossing, water flow may be an issue do to current drought. 😳 Need to keep in mind to allow for ample time at Alstadts, our destination in Fredericksburg.

I definitely recommend we all jump on the same GMRS channel for the drive. I doubt we need a privacy code given the rural nature of the route.

Everyone driving the trail should have 5 things… water, snacks, a fire extinguisher, a GMRS radio, and a smile! 😃

guys, i do not own a GMRS radio. however, i can get water, snacks, fire extinguisher and a huge smile. educate me on the radio stuff. do i really need one? if i need one, will a pawn shop have them? or where do you guys suggest i get one?

I think they're nice to have just because, but I don't know if I'd get one just for this trip. I think there's enough of us that have them, that as long as we keep an eye on each other, it should be fine. But if you want something simple, I'm sure amazon has some. Just search GMRS handheld radios. I can't remember a lot of brands, I'm sure others will chime in

Yeah, other than harassing me, the radios are fun to point out interesting things we drive past. We won’t need them for traversing obstacles or anything like that. I just enjoy group rides more when I can communicate with the other drivers.
