Cartel Strikes Again

Not sure what any of this has to do with the Cartel nor the border... but ok. Sorry your truck was stolen.

Not to derail the thread but one of the reasons is the people who are stealing these trucks are from across the border. Latest first hand example, my boss was at the Lowes near Helotes with a trailer attached to the truck, walks into the store, ford pass app goes off that his door his open, runs outside and catches the guy in the driver seat and he tackles him to the ground. In spanish the guy starts yelling for "asylum, asylum", its an epidemic at this point.

This is a valid reason to blame the border. I grew up on the west side of San Antonio and know we have plenty of thieves that were born and raised here, hence my comment. I am not a fan of things said with commentary that have no evidence to support the particular instance. Your example is a perfect one of evidence to support it.

The fact that I have lived here my whole life and cars get stolen everywhere, not just in San Antonio.
If you live in SA you know how bad it is. If you say it hasn’t gonna any worse your oblivious. And to think at least 1/2 or more are not cartel related is just foolishness!

wonder if they target hotels because that would be easiest to use the fob relay attack on?
could the use of a metal pouch prevent a majority of the total losses or are they doing BCM swaps in the parking lot?

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... it is a duck! While we do have plenty of home-grown criminals here, the uptick, particularly in Texas and Arizona, is due to the "secure border". Folks can spin this any way they want and are very much entitled to their opinions or observations, and I respect that. However, the border is not secure by any means, crimes, crime rates and the demographics of those that are committing the crimes are horribly under or outright mis-reported on purpose and it is affecting all of us.

Unfortunately I had never heard of Ravelco or IGLA till one of the guys in the lobby showed me his. My next truck will definitely have one. I could have stomached a break in, but a complete loss is going to hurt. Are one of these better than the other?
Both are good products... it will come down to your preferences and thoughts around how each work, and what you're willing to spend (as one is 2x the cost of the other). As @Alpoba said there's a few threads on the topic, but happy to answer any questions you have if you PM me.

I thought about one of those DiscLok things. Do they seem secure?

It’s a solid chunk of metal with a good lock. My research at the time pointed as it being the best steering wheel type locking device on the market. I mount mine on in combo with ravelco when i have to park in “questionable” places like the hotel parking lots.

The forum will point you to numerous discussions on the igla vs revelco subject which already exist. Your question could easily turn this into one vs other heated thread , it always happens in this fashion.

And it doesn’t have to be just those two. Use something like a disklok, it’s 200$ in comparison and most thieves will not spend the time needed to grind it off in public parking lots.

My point above was that if you spend 25k worth of upgrades on any vehicle, security should be on top of the list included in those upgrades. Otherwise all the time effort and cost is lost for nothing.
A good thief doesnt care about any security measures you have.

I feel your loss. In the late 80's I had my F250 stolen while I was visiting friends in Las Vegas. My luggage, wallet, stash of cash, sunglasses, everything I had was gone. What a bullshit experience that was.

While this guy in the link below is in the UK, he does get some insight into what thieves are doing there and it’s wild. In his second video, there is a very interesting modification that he did.

Ah, I see that now, thx.

Feels like SA and Houston area this happens a lot. I hope the DFW area is a bit less risky
Nope. In DFW (North Dallas) and they tried to tow my truck out of my driveway. Fortunate enough to stop it from happening.

Lol…watching Houston news right now and they are about to show a clip about a stolen car chop shop with ties to the Jalisco cartel…..there are plenty of home grown thieves, regardless of where they come from they all need some air let in their head.

They 🎯 you everywhere and anywhere in the sa and surrounding area! This is their job!! Worthless bastards. They think everyone has a gun on board are they are stealing ur rig. It’s that simple.

I live in Houston and haven’t heard of many break-ins, at least not as bad as SA.

Believe me, it's very bad in Houston and a lot of the surround areas. My truck was broken into in my parking garage in the Galleria when I used to live out there. I then moved a townhouse inside the loop, just as bad in that area. Fortunately, I'd already installed Jimmi Jammers and removed the lock rods from the doors along with a key delete with the passenger's side door handle replacement.

I also added Ravelco.

I will not take my truck to most places in the city because of it and now fortunately live out in the safest suburb in the greater Houston area - and we still have had trucks stolen out of people's driveways.

Agreed, it is bad here in Houston. I personally know two people that have had their 3/4 tons stolen in the past calendar year...

when was the border ever “secure”? Born and raised part of my life in Galveston/Houston area. Crime was rampant back then as well. Worked offshore in the 80’s. Crime was rampant then too. Just sayin. Im sure it’s increased. Crime has increased where I live now also. Sign of the times I suppose. Sorry state of affairs to be sure.
