ASAP Emissions Intact tuning

I know the feeling.

AMDP also just released their exclsuive 5-SOFT paired with 5 steering wheel hiss tune files. For those of us like me who already have a knob on the dash and want to keep it, you can but you can now use the steering wheel controls to alter your idle tune. The best of all worlds.

Other calibrators would jumble them together and tie them to an exclusive power level, whereas AMDP gives you the freedom to run any power level and choose how closed or open you want the vanes at idle, with 5 being fully closed for a full hiss and 1 delivering a low growl.

Waiting on black Friday to roll around to get all my goodies.
There are a couple other features that will be released as well.

The adjustability being added almost reminds me of Patriot Diagnostics(Spartan)'s On-Screen-Tuning

Care to elaborate?

I am really wanting a more agressive T/H mode, if possible but I haven't seen any of the top two dawgz mention anything about.

I should probe them on the possiblity.

23-27 stuff seems to be priority and its all ECM stuff that's coming out(to my knowledge).

I would reach out about a more aggressive T/H mode tho. I'm pretty confident they could spin you up a tune file that is more aggressive in T/H

Once you buy lifetime support you can reach out to the tuner and ask for a customized file for your needs.

Do tuners do sales on the tune packages? I’ve never paid attention.

What are you wanting different with T/H?

I’m running ASAP engine and trans tunes on my 2020 and had an issue while towing heavy where it would shift into 3rd too soon(1200rpm)and the truck would just fall on its face. Very frustrating when accelerating into an on ramp. It seemed like the other shift points were normal, just shifted onto 3rd very quick.

Sent them an email and they recommended to try a different trans tune with higher shift points. I haven’t towed that exact heavy load yet but did pull my loaded 16’ dump trailer and it did a lot better letting it rev to about 1700-1900rpm before shifting into 3rd gear depending on throttle position.

It’s very easy to keep up with normal traffic pulling 12k-15k with this truck.

I’m looking for more aggressive downshifting, if you will, with the EB set to ON rather than auto and obviously in T/H mode.

My 6.0L doesn’t have an EB button, but when in T/H mode, it really pulls those speeds down quickly, using the little gears it has and while bringing you to a nearly abrupt yet smooth halt. If I had to explain it in any way, it feels as if you are almost being dragged backwards while driving forward through sand.

I feel like the tune on the 6.0 (not even sure which tune it is, to be quite honest) restricts air to the engine and almost cuts it off while keep you at those high RPMs.

Anyone who has driven a 6.0 knows the old 5-speed TorqShift practically cut the engine while in T/H, using the vanes to starve the engine of air. I could be wrong, but I don’t think the 6.7 does this quite as much. I feel it can be enhanced substantially through some custom tuning.

AZ, totally agree. Coming down from the Eisnhouer tunnel with a 15klb trailer the 6.0 would just hold speed (and wrap out the tach.) Pretty impressive for no exhaust brake or variable vane turbo.

I remember in the early days of owning the 6.0, towing a trailer through some hills, my buddy riding shotgun asked if the engine had died because you couldn't hear it anymore. It seems like the ECM might cut the cylinders from firing when it senses downhill grades and weight.

Did some years not come with a VGT? My '07 did.

The ‘05 was the one I drove a lot. It was 20 years ago so I may be wrong, I thought it had a fixed vane. But I could totally be wrong. Either way the 5R110 combined with 6.0 was amazing downhill. It would bump into the EGT limiter on the way up the hill but generally held 50s. I just remember terrible lag off idle when we didn’t have a tuner on it. With the tuner it would wake up on tow tune, still had a bit of lag but I recall picking it up in Silverthorne off a HPOP replacement and with just the empty 4klb trailer it had massive lag. with the tuner pulled off. Was fine once spooled up. the 2004 6spd I test drove I kept stalling starting in 2nd (I was used to Cummins and 7.3s with manuals so I just assumed 2nd was how you started empty.)

They were very laggy stock. Had to go down memory lane for that one.

I had her deleted after I blew heads on it, a 3rd time in 3 years and that was the end of that. Then I upgrade to a bigger turbo and its a night and day difference. It does a good job of keeping up with the Tremor (also tuned) on a good day.

That’s awesome. They probably were a bit ahead of their time. But certainly somewhat problematic stock.
