Anyone have a bakflip I have a question for you

I had a backflip before and a DB now and feel that the 2 covers are for totally different uses.
Please expound on your experiences.
I don't have a disagreement, just think more information is better.

It’s light out, I had a few minutes, and it almost hit 20 here, so I crawled under my truck in the parking lot at work and took a few shots of what mine looks like. From what I could see @legmar, you were looking at the passenger side. From what I remember, the outward facing side of the “box” is open. This should allow you to push the tubing straight through until it hits the bed panel. At this point if your arms are long enough, reach up and help it make the turn towards the ground. If not use a coat hanger or something to fish it down. It helps to have a “pusher” and a “puller.” (I recruited my wife for assistance). You may notice I had cut this side short prior to establishing this game plan, but I would recommend leaving it long.View attachment 15632View attachment 15633View attachment 15634
The drivers side is similar but a little more complicated because the fuel and def filler box is in the way. Use the same technique but be sure to fish it as straight as possible around everything. It’s definitely important to leave it long so it will reach past the box and to the ground. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. It took me looking under there to jog my memory on the install. ???View attachment 15630View attachment 15631View attachment 15635

Any time. Glad to help.
So I went out and inspected my 2021 in the daylight. Here’s what I found. Looks like the hose can be routed over the metal “box” and then drain down. I think the hose install will be easy after removing the pocket caps on the bed rails.

Yeah or you could go this route and save yourself a ton of hassle, and swearing...???‍♂️?
It’s out of sheer necessity as I have a big head and short arms like a ?
??

So I chatted with the shop owner who just installed my cover. His recommendation was to definitely use the top holes as discussed, but he suggested cutting the tubes to be short and terminate inside that metal “box” under the pocket cover. He said routing the longer tubes is a pain and then they would dangle under the truck for no reason. He said the short tubes drain fine and he’s never had a problem with it. ?

I got a BakFlip on my F150 because I was going to the track once a month and wanted to load my motorcycle in the truck so I didn't have to worry about trailer tow speed limits. Its was super easy to fold up to the bulkhead or just remove. It worked great for me and if I was still going to track days I would have got something similar again. I still go back and forth about the set up I chose this time because I'm still not sure if I'm going to get the low racks or high racks on my DBHD. I haven't put the DBHD through much yet (it does keep the rain out better) but I'm sure that it will last much longer and weather better because it is much more heavy duty. I figure its 10 minutes off and 15 on if I ever have the need so its not that big of a deal. The Bak was 3 minutes off and 5 on. All depends on your needs

the cover had already shipped but per "gatorcover" I have 90 days to return for another 1 of their covers if I'm not happy. unfortunately I did realize that my Honda eu3000 generator will not fit underneath the bakflip style cover closed. so I suppose I have the next 3 months to figure out if I keep the 1 ordered originally or not. thanks for all the quick responses and the time to take pictures and measure
