7.3 to lose 40 LB FT of TQ and 10 HP for 2027

What a joke Ford is too, did you see the 6.6 Gas now makes 420 HP/475 LB FT for 2027? They upped it past 7.3 power levels after Ford cut the 7.3 down. As I predicted, STUPID move by Ford. Now the 7.3 V8 makes 30 LB FT less grunt than the 6.6 Gas.

Emissions my butt. This was a calculated move to push more diesels that fell on its face before it was ever executed. They sold more GM gassers for this year instead, great job Ford! Not.

There is your answer, yes Ford really detuned the 7.3

GM and Ford are both trash today, but at least they aren't Dodge, or Ram, or Chrysler, or Stelanits, or Fiat, or Daimler, or whatever the f**k they are today.

It’s just pretty laughable, the 6.7 HO is significantly more expensive than the new 8.3L Duramax while offering significantly less power and some less torque. Then they neuter the 7.3 and GM up-tunes the 6.6. So now your base motor doesn’t compete, and you have your customers paying the highest in the industry for a diesel that’s not even best in class. Whoever was in charge of these decisions should be canned yesterday. They had a very nice powertrain lineup that was priced appropriately for 2026 and they got greedy. Now it’s going to bite them in the ass.

No best in class anything except best in class profit off the customer.

For the record I very much like Ford, which is why when I see the greedy bastards try and pull a fast one I called it out. Self sabotaging product lineup to squeeze more $$ out on an all ready profitable model is too far.

Ford will still outsell GM.

What is your reason for not jumping ship and going out to buy the GM?
Because my truck is 4 months old, I will absolutely buy a GM at trade in time if Ford doesn’t either A) Cheapen the Diesel option to $9,500 range or B) Bring back the 7.3’s original power.

You know good and well neither of those will happen. Everything goes up in price, nothing retreats from any manufacturer.
I also highly doubt anyone would even notice the derate if not advertised. I have both HOs and SOs in my fleet and cannot tell them apart except for DEF usage.

I promise you, anyone can 100% feel a 40 LB FT drop at levels below 500 Lb Ft. that’s the difference between a 5.0 Coyote and GM 6.2L, which is massive back to back. At 700+ LB FT that percentage gets small and hard to detect.

The GM 6.2 used to be a great motor. I had it in several Denalis and have had the Ford version in 3 Gen 1 Raptors. The GM 6.2 is garbage now. I also have the 5.0 in a 2026 F150 Tremor. It's much better than the EB and I can am sure miles better than the GM 6.2, even with less torque.
I stand by my original statement, if most folks drove the 2027 7.3 and the 2026 7.3 back to back without knowing there was a derate, I highly doubt they would notice.

A definitive answer on what was “changed” to drop the power that much would be nice too. There’s rumors of a new camshaft for ‘27 with less lift as the reason for loss of power. But then when the ‘26 came out there were members of this Forum saying that the ‘26 got a new cam and lifters to try to stop the cam and lifter issues. Two new cams in two years? I find that hard to believe.

I've accepted my fate and soon there will be more people like me arriving who own and drive with a 2027 7.3L and are going to tell you that all is well. The 27' F350 7.3L gets up to speed just as fast as safely needed, even at the same rate as the 26' F350 6.7L HO's I've test driven. I'm just pushing the go pedal harder which is expected, Yes?. So far under break-in, I have yet to need to push above 3500 rpm. If needed, there's plenty of 27' 7.3L HP/TQ on stand-by at the higher RPMs if I really want to push in order to hit the car ahead of me

For towing, I stand down, I'll leave that to your speculation and Ford who's rating showing no 2027 impact with the 4.3 axle which we all have as this is the "Tremor" forum, Yes?. :censored:

I doubt even dyno results will change anyone's real world usage of the now fleet wide updated 7.3L "Godzilla" - Are we 2027 owners still allowed to use "Godzilla"?
