350 Tremor - Diesel or Gas?

Brother, Im a raging a$$hole in real life! I was in The Marines for 12 years and was in charge of 120 combat ready Jarheads! Then I was a Fed for 24 years dealing with woke DEI fu#kSticks. Think Gunny Highway from Heartbreak Ridge. That's pretty much me. Actually ive been described as a really good guy. No better friend no worse enemy, but with sharp passive agressive sarcasm. But I mean no harm. Just talkin $hit.

Truth is, I wouldnt mind havin a coal burner. Especially some of the powerplants that they're coming out with in the future. I just dont know how to maintain them. Plus I dont do enough haulin to justify one considering the added cost and maintanence schedule.

You'd be surprised with Toy-zilla! For a big rig ole girl $hits & gits! Im clockin 0-60 in about 4.5 sec. Does everything well cept passing a gas station. Hell! Im in Texas! What $hits do I give about fuel & economy?

Well, I'm an old Church going man now and for the sake of my bride, I am trying to banish the asshole to diesel fumes. However, we are traveling for the next 2 weeks and THAT really is a test to keep the beast at bay. I used to come home from work and say "I HATE PEOPLE". I don't hate them anymore. I just don't care for them very much.

I'm working on it.

I used to love the Corps and my job til the wokie kids came along. Used to be if you had a beef with someone you threw down, sorted stuff out then went for beers. If you look at the newer generations sideways they cry and you get sent to HR then anger management classes if not fired. Thank God I dont have to deal with that stuff anymore! October marks 5 years job free! It like an AA achievment coin!

Funny you mentioned "even those from Cali." Did service time in SoCal, then AZ, then NM and finally TX. Those people been making me retreat east for the past 30 years!

Hey all,
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 350 Tremor for use on a grain farm. I'm leaning heavily toward the diesel but wondering if any see advantages with the gas engine?

Secondary question: ideally I like to buy used with less than 30K miles, but it seems like many used ones with 70K+ are within $20,000 of original pricing. Appreciate any thoughts on new vs. used.

I had the Gas 6.2 and have had 5 diesel since, custom hauling powersports all across western Canada. I started having misfires on the 6.2 around 400,000 km and it burned twice as much gas as a 6.7 diesel with heavy loads and have heard the 7.3 burns about 50% more on heavy loads.
In my experience, buying diesels with around 240,000 km if they were properly maintained is optimal, and I take them to a specialty shop to change ALL fluids including transmission, inspect the diffs, drive shafts, brakes, suspension and steering. With regular maintenance I have run them up to 780,000 km before selling them.
If you don’t haul 200,000 km/yr and upgrade every few years, a gas truck is probably cheaper, but for the long haul diesel trucks have less maintenance in my experience.

I feel like having a 4 digit torque rating is a dad flex. Like I might be wearing grass stained new balances but this 7k pound truck with 1200 foot pounds of torque is literally the best you can get. Sprung for the ultimate truck and the 6.7 HO did not disappoint, neither did the tremor package.

Pulling the 3500' climb over the hour's drive from St George (roughly 2500' ASL) to Cedar City (roughly 6000' ASL) I'm in my '25 7.3 Godzilla Tremor taking it easy at 70 MPH in 9th for an RPM of roughly 2200... because climbing.

Speed limit is 80 through there, so I cruise in the right lane whenever possible. Point being that I hear a locomotive come chugging by at about 85 MPH and I look to see a '26 F350 FX4 6.7 H.O. w/ an exhaust.

He musta been turning 1200 RPM (or whatever 85 MPH is in 10th with their axle gearing - could it have been 3.31s?) and it sounded! effing awesome.

I went from a diesel to a gasser after divorce number 2 because I had to sell the toy hauler and then had to sell my soul and downsize to make the 2k a month vagimony payments. Going from a 5.9 Cummins to a 1500 Hemi V8 felt like going to see the Odyssey and finding out Eliot Page is playing a Greek soldier. The loss of gas mileage was a gut punch that turned into a nut kicking two years later when I had to add a super charger to feel like I wasn’t half the man I used to be. PS, if you didn’t read that last line in the late Scott Weilands voice, we can’t be friends. The loss of power and capability turned into an itch that couldn’t be scratched no matter how long my Lee press on nails were. Fast forward four years, and I once again doubled my income out of pure necessity, and for the first time in my life, im waiting to pick up my first custom ordered, diesel pickup who’s seat upholstery has never split another man’s asscheeks before mine. So why a diesel? Because fucking Merika! I want a truck that makes maximum torque and HP. One that can pull my house off its foundation if I need it to. One that I can stack a bakers dozen dead hookers in the bed and still spin the 37 inch tires. One that gives me that smile when I press the accelerator and get pushed back into the seat as that turbo spools and I give some 20 something bimbo, mushroom shaped, blunt force trauma to the soft palate. Most importantly, when my next marriage fails, and let’s be clear, my track record says it will, I want a truck that I can drive off into the sunset in, towing my backup residence behind me on the fifth wheel hitch. In a life filled with regrets including but not limited too: Buying tits for four different women, none of which I still get to play with because big tits seemed reasonable, buying two houses, neither of which I still get to live in because divorce seemed reasonable, blowing my shoulder out because snatching 245 pounds at 36 seemed reasonable, blowing my knees out because that second deployment seemed reasonable, a regret I won’t have, is buying another girl power gasser truck. In conclusion, buy a gasser if you hate being awesome I guess.
