Carli Backcountry issues

There's been a lot of shade thrown at Carli here. @BLACKCHERRY has taken a lot of his personal time to be on here and answer questions as well (to be fair, it's probably great for sales haha).

I'm just at the tail end of fine-tuning my carli set up.
I have a F350 with 2.5 Commuter (Fox 2.0's), 37x12.5r17 Yokahama Geolander MT G003s, carli high and low mount steering stabilizer, and a carli torsion sway (waiting for inventory). I'm running 47/40 psi cold.

I think the truck's composure, bump compliance, overall comfort is 100% better than stock, and I installed the system myself. I'm OCD about my steering and I'm still figuring out if I want to keep the high/low mount carli opposing system, or go back to my fox ats for high mount and try the carli for low mount. I had to toe in an extra half degree to get the alignment where I wanted it.

My only complaint has been fine tuning my steering, as it seems to wander a bit still at 80+mph, but again im on 37s, and again, I'm figuring this out.

I'm extremely happy with the carli system and their support. I WOULD say that I've received slightly more in-depth advice directly from Carli rather than CJC offroad. In my opinion they're both great, but I've called Carli probably 7 times now to clarify things, explain things, etc. and they've always been awesome.

To be clear, I'm a capitalist at heart and vote with my dollar. Part of that is deciding to which company I give my money, not just about the product itself. Companies and what they stand for only grow because we feed them. Carli is an American company. They represent the best of American ingenuity.

So the e venture will be better in our -20 to -30F winters & if we go up to Fort Mc Murray AB in the winter they won’t freeze up & rupture hose s or anything

We've not tested in those temps but, at some point, precedent serves as your guide. SDI uses BUNA style seals (no high-heat, race style VITON) and oil that's the same weight and temp-rating that King uses (-55°F).

One thing to keep in mind is that there are "trade offs" with each step you take when you depart from OEM. The OEM Tremor rides pretty darn good "on road" - shocks are very soft and give nice compliance over most on oad conditions Take it offroad and you run out of shock at 10 mph or less on anything other than a smooth graded dirt road.

That being said you have to choose your suspension updates based on your specific goals. One person's definition of better ride may be very different from anothers. There are always trade offs in ride quality for better off road performance - to take bigger hits you have bigger shocks with bigger shafts and it takes more to get them moving, that makes it very hard to smooth out the rear end with very little weight back there. To try to improve that you get multi spring packs with softer inital bite to take up some of the slack over OEM springs - you give up some load capacity - hoping to smooth out the small chop.

As described above it does become a rabbit hole - which is why I like to go with a "system" from one MFG. that has all been designed and tested to work together to give the best possible outcome. My goals have reflected my use of 60% on road, 25% towing and 15% offroad. What will work for all of those uses is up for a lot of debate - everyone has an opinion. Riding in a truck with what you are going to get before you buy is a luxury we are not always able to have.

I love the way you sum things up; this is another great resource!

We don’t or won’t do any technical four wheeling but lots of oilfield and ranch roads like these both in summer and winter along with lots of freeway and now on the freeways I can hold a jar of cream and make butter the tremor bounces so bad
The E-Venture is the perfect setup for you. The Freeways, you'll se an improvement but they won't disappear while the oilfield/ranch roads will be night/day improvement.
Not to get off the topic, but after having a Backcountry system installed has anyones rig sat nose high? Had mine installed today at my local dealership and it seems to be sitting a little high in the front.
What did you do to the rear? You would need to get 3.5-4" of front lift to raise the front of the Tremor visibly high. Feel free to DM me and we can run this over.
Nope.

This thread makes me feel like I’m from another planet. The Carli website explains everything way more than any other suspension lift site. What the F happened to reading comprehension. It is simple logic: know what you want then go get it.

Too harsh. Too soft. I don’t know what I want. So expensive. I can’t read. I can’t acknowledge I can’t afford it.
I do appreciate you saying this as I have spent more time developing our website than I care to think about attempting to make it a resource from which customers can gain understanding of both function and configuration. Some of the threads i read cause me to re-evaluate whether I've done this or, if the customer is reading the material I've published. More often than not, i find people don't want to read/comprehend my walls of text but there's only so much time in the day to do youtube videos while running the business.
So to recap we have identified the issue being the rear leaf spring pack. Are we gonna remove that or and fix the issue? Or no?
That's my remote diagnosis, yes. The customer has agreed to purhcase the leaf springs from his retailer and I have agreed to accept a return on his add-a-packs.

I joined as an enthusiest and quickly became a rep that doesn't sell, lol. I appreciate your comments and feedback!

Wish Carli made a 1.5” spring. I would be all over that.

Can’t wait till next month & hopefully will get the E Venture installed as well as everything else & finally be able to taste the Carli kool-aid lol

Been looking at Innov8 wheels and the wife actually wants & authorized the order of G 400 smooth wheels but the economy is such wheels and tires keep getting pushed back

Our leveling springs are a 1.5" on the Tremor :)

Jason told me 8-10 weeks on my G400 Smooth lips... Super reasonable lead time considering the state of everyone else's availability. That why I buy American - he's not waiting for an offshore container!

As much as I want the wheels $5,500 for them mounted and balanced on factory Duratracs is not easy pill to swallow in this economy

If you did nothing to the rear leaf springs, it will ride nose high. I have the BC system and I pulled my factory blocks, replaced them with Deaver AAPs (against the recommendation of CJC and Carli) and added a 1" PMF block to give my truck 1 3/4" of rake. I tow heavy, so I did not want to lose carrying capacity with Full Deavers.

I added AirLift 5000 lb Ultimate airbags to control the sag and Sulastic shackles to smooth out the ride when unloaded. I also have 37x17x12.5 Ridge Grapplers at 40F/38R psi for small bump compliance. I am very happy with the end result.

This entire thread just confused the hell out of me. About to buy a pintop keep 35s and do nothing to the rear spring for awhile. But instead of leveling I am actually going to be nose high?

Yes. There are several members who have done just the front coil springs and they all sit nose high.

EDIT: BlackCherry corrected me on this one! Sorry for the confusion...

The different shocks (Commuter, BC, Pintop) do nothing for the ride height.

The Full Deavers or the AAPs will give you about an inch of rake after removing the factory blocks. I wanted more than an inch to allow some amount of sag, so I added a 1" PMF block.

This picture shows the rear leafs / AAPs with one of the Deaver 1/4" shims on top of the 1" PMF block. I removed the shim when I added the Sulastic shackles.

I would tell you you'd see a rear high stance with no rear spring modification, see below.

Do you have a link to any thread showing this? I'm not doubting you - this is just different from our findings. I installed the front of my 5.5" system and the rear was only 1" lower than the front leading me to believe the 3.5" springs would leave the rear 1-2" higher than the front.

You are right. I tried to dig up the old threads from early 2020 and could not find the ones I remembered. I thought it was @ftchmup who had the same issue, but he had a cap on his at the time. The other thread was related to being nose high when towing with his Carli and the wrong size WDH, so that one was also incorrect.

Sorry for the confusion.

All good! I'm not sure anyone can use this thread as a resource anyway - it takes too many turns for most to follow, LOL.

2020 Tremor, currently with 14,500 miles. Just had the Carli BC installed late last week. Prior to installation measurements were:
Drivers side front- 41.75”
Drivers rear- 44”
Passenger front- 41.25”
Passenger rear- 45”

After installation:
Drivers front- 45”
Drivers rear- 45.5”
Passenger front-45”
Passenger rear- 45.5”

My measurements were taken from ground to wheel well arch. 37x11.50r20 Ridge Grapplers on 20x9 Hostile Exile rims. Over all a huge ride quality change. Had a little rub on the drivers side lower fender flare. Waiting on some forscan changes to adjust tire pressure. They are riding like rocks at the moment. Adam’s Graphene ceramic coating. P&S beadmaker as drying aid for a little extra bang. Highly suggest their products. Quality stuff at a great price and the stuff will blow your mind. Plan on using carpro blackout for a tire coating just as soon as the sun goes down a bit. Can’t say enough about carli. Love everything that’s made in America. Every time I called I got great customer service. I went through Top Tier Suspensions to get all my Carli stuff. They were easy to work with as well.

You did nothing in the rear? If not, your .5" of rake is as close as it gets without being nose high...

Your first picture looks nose high, but I think it is the driveway angle.

Yeah. My driveway is on a hill. Wasn’t a good photo op, but I just got it cleaned up. I’ll probably swap rear blocks out eventually like some.

I have the same setup on a 22 350 with 2.5 Commuter (Fox 2.0's), 37x12.5R18 KM3s on stock tremor wheels, carli high and low mount steering stabilizer, radius arms, 2017-19 bumpstops, and a carli torsion sway. I'm running 48/48 psi cold. Coming from a Cognito Leveled Duramax on fox 2.0s, a steering stabilizer and 35x12.50R18s with 50 psi I HATED my ford when it was stock. It was miserable on 20s with stock tires.

I pieced the kit together from the base commuter kit and every component has made a huge difference. The radius arms made the ride better and the swaybar changed the whole attitude of the truck. I do the work myself so even the packaging said a lot about the quality and care put into the product. Took a total POS and made it pretty entertaining to drive around town, towing, and in the dirt.

Love this thread! 😂😂😂

3.5” Carli full pin-top w/progressives

37” Falcon Wildpeaks on 20” Fuel Rims at 61 PSi for fuel mileage. I should have terrible “small bump compliance” but loving it and drove 40 miles on washboards in the last 2 days plus moderate technical off-roading and 250 miles of highway.

It’s still an F-350, but i couldn’t be happier with my Carli setup.
