WANTED WTB 2022 KR Tremor

Just commenting on what your salesman shared:

-Power up tailgate ('23 KR has it)
-Reverse cam in tailgate down position ('23 KR has it)
-HUD ('23 KR has it and I LOVE IT)
-Projector headlights ('23 KR is reflector, I feel that the cutoff is still really good in the reflector design, but not as good as projector)
-LED tails ('23 KR does not have it)

So out of the list if 5 he gave me, only 2 are are accurate then…..🤬🤔

The 3 you confirmed to be on the KR, were they add on’s or standard equipment?

I’d like to think a tail swap would be rather easy with platinum/limited tail unless the harness is different. I’d have to look into that

There was a shop posting on IG about working on a retrofit kit to run projectors in a KR or lariat but it was a while ago and now I don’t remember who it was to confirm if it ever became offered for sale or if they’re still in the testing phase. Wonder if I could dig that up too

They are standard options on KR, they did away with the "801 A and 802 A (KR Ultimate)" packages of yester-year, there's one KR package now.

I have found dealer sales reps to be generally less than knowledgeable.

There were some guys that initially did tail swaps with the Platinums and Limiteds and stated they worked, I believe the headlights were trickier because you have to replace the whole housing, but some guys did it.

I frankly did not care enough to monkey with it. I don't notice.

Frustrating but it’s nice to hear!

I understand you’re expected to know such a wide range of products but I’d rather get “I’m not sure but I can find out for you” than just making something up and saying with conviction

You’re probably right. I hazard a guess trying to go to headlight and tails from a limited or platinum is probably going to be $5k.

And then you have to ask yourself would you rather spend 5k on factory parts or with Carli

@iceman22 Do you have the ‘’23/‘24 order guide? It shows exactly what comes standard on what trim level as well as all options that are available on each trim level.
I was never given one. That was probably my first mistake. Watched the highlights from the trucks debut. Went in when the order banks opened up with a list of things I saw that I wanted. And that was when he told me about needing to go up above KR

This shows what’s standard / extra

Still looking….

Never trust feedback from sales team. It’s a revolving door of people most don’t stay at same company. Most the time when I talk to someone and then return later that person already no longer works at dealership

Bit of advice on this as I just went through it and got exactly what I wanted. Sign up for a free website such as auto trader. Save a search with all your criteria. Look at what's available and wait. It took a little over two months and a couple prospects slipping away before I got lucky.

The reason I suggest the saved search is because these trucks sell very quickly. The saved search will send you a notification as soon as the listing is made. Sometimes before pictures of the vehicle become even available.

Be familiar with window stickers as this will be your friend to know the true options on the vehicle. Dealers are confused on options too often and you don't wanna get excited for something that you don't want.

Get pre approved financing to know a budget that works for you and to be prepared when dealing with an out of state dealer. Some dealers won't want to mess with out of state buyers and having to go back and forth with financing options.

Keep in mind, most dealers won't take you seriously. Although internet sales may make up a large portion of their sales, for ever sale there was three callers, emails etc that went no where. So have your facts straight, have a good game plan and let them know your situation. Honesty goes a long way with honest dealers.

Note the day the truck was originally sold. Just because it has low mileage doesn't mean it was sold at the very beginning of said model year. This is most important if you're after a Ford ESP(extended warranty). I believe the general cutoff is the factory bumper to bumper warranty of 3 years or 36k miles. However I believe when you use the pricing tool for the ESPs they do extended these numbers a little, but my memory is foggy on that.

Consider a third party inspection if you're buying out of state. Lemon Squad did a decent job inspecting my purchase before I made the final decision. It was comforting to have detailed pics, and information on any issues. Go figure when the inspector went to see the truck it didn't start. Ended up being as simple as dead batteries and they swapped in two fresh ones. Just that alone paid for the inspection.

If you already have IDS, be aware you'll need FDRS to scan these newer trucks.

Last bit of advice. If you find the one you want, checks all the boxes and it's a reputable dealer, put a deposit down(assuming it's refundable). That way you reserve the truck and it will stop someone swooping in, that happened to me twice.

Best of luck with the purchase and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Yea, definitely a little disappointed knowing what I know now. Keeping my fingers crossed that projectors will at least be an option on the ‘25 KR. That might swing be away from a ‘22. But probably won’t be the case. I kinda thought we’d see the ‘25 info get released by now

Appreciate your detailed response! I’ll definitely keep all this in mind. Did the saved searches on Autotrader and cars.com

Wish there was a way to filter for the rear end but that’s not an option. As it is now, my filters bring me down to single digits for the amount of trucks out there. Once I check window stickers, it usually goes down to zero. But trying to be optimistic that it’ll come around one of these days

Bump. Still looking. Especially for a white/stone without chrome package

Bump. Still haven’t found anything

Unfortunately they both have a crash on the carfax :/
