Who else wants an Ineos?

Looks like there will be a delay for those of you that placed an order.
It doesn’t specify which “trim piece” is affecting the shut down. But it must be a substantial one…

Boy do I want one
I've seen a several in passing around here in STL and was wondering what they were. First one I thought mighta been some kinda EV Defender or something because of the body and the way the tail lights looked. Then I saw another and noticed the exhaust on it.

We saw one the other day. Wife def still likes them.

I still love the looks and design philosophy but I've read some horror stories about warranty claim denials due to lift coils of late. I still need to see some longer term reliability/dependability reports along with proof of staying power in the brand here stateside before I get serious about adding one to the stable.

Don’t you want to be the first in your neighborhood to have one??? Nope. I’ll stick with my Tremor.

Also gonna stick with the Tremor, but If I wanted a Landcruiser...I would buy a Landcruiser (New or Old)....at least I would know it wouldn't break down in the middle of no-where!

With the release of the Quartermaster ute, Ineos has been getting serious. They have teamed up with Norweld, offering a $7,000 voucher towards a canopy. I hear also they are combining with Redarc for electrical equipment, Rhino for roof racks, Stedi for lights and a local suspension specialist. Seems they are gunning for the 70 series Landcruiser market in a big way, although at this stage there is no single cab, which is what Toyota sell lots of to the mines.

I still haven't seen the positive reinforcement from current owners that I need to see in order to get serious about considering one anytime soon. Far too many issues and some very underwhelming customer service and support when issues arise. I am still very much in the "I want one" camp but I am not anywhere near ready to give them $85-90K for one yet with any confidence in the product.

I only know one owner, and he is very impressed. It is his first modern diesel powered vehicle and he is pleased with both performance and fuel economy. It copes well in outback conditions and is now buying a camper trailer to tow behind it. His previous vehicle was a GQ Nissan Patrol diesel.

I followed them from the start. Thought is was a great idea. Back to basics. At the time we had a Bronco on order. After the first year of not getting the Bronco we looked a little harder at them. Approaching the second year and still no Bronco delivery we were very close to ordering only to find out that the delivery for it was also unknown. Couple that with a lack of dealer network, spare parts, and unknown reliability we opted out. If they are still around in a couple of years and the reports look good we would definitely consider one.

I couldn't help taking a photo when the opportunity struck a few weeks back :D

They're not bad looking for sure, but would need to be car #4 or #5...its too small to be a family carrier for us, lol.

@911Tremor that article is referencing Recaro's bankruptcy -- (yes the famous seat company).

I think the production line is still down until Recaro starts producing again or Ineos finds another seat vendor and re-certifies (aka crash tests) the vehicle with new seats.

Given Ineos' owner is worth along is worth $16.3Billion, maybe just buy Recaro and get these moving again..

@gmoon Its news to me about Recaro...I'm actually surprised by it since it was my understanding they had pretty good airline contracts for commercial airliner seats...

I played around with the OK4WD Grenedier at Expo. It has a pop roof conversion and full interior liveable build out. They’ve worked with AluCab and GP Factor to make everything an available part without any fabrication.

I’m not planning on doing the Pan American anytime soon but if I was for a new/ modern vehicle I can’t imagine a better choice.

I also saw a Quartermaster at Expo and that thing was SICK!!! Be the coolest daily driver ever!!!!!

Again I’m not in the market and honestly I don’t want one but I can definitely appreciate them for what they are. There are also engine builders doing ridiculous things with the US spec engines in other platforms.

When @Pompey mentioned “modern diesel in his post I was about to freak out and then remembered he’s in upside down land and we don’t have that option here…. Oh well.

I was surprised too, however Recardo commerical airline division is a separate entity than their automotive operation. The airline side of things is super healthy from what Ive heard.

Bummer for such an icon brand!

@TRAMPER I have been watching that project pretty closely. With at least ten friends with these cars, I feel like its a 50/50 love hate with them. Some of my buddies love them, but a lot of them are pretty much suggesting that for the same price, you can get an AEV JL370 and be way better off.. Im torn for sure.

The norweld / Ineos collaboration as @Pompey has called out has been droolworthy for sure (minus that terrible rear bumper).

Youve got a 7.3L gasser dont ya? You could do the panam tomorrow! (unlike me!)

Well, you can option the petrol engine in Oz, but I doubt many do. They don’t perform as well driven upside down as the diesels. Petrol in outback areas is of particularly poor quality. They use opal petrol which is designed to run people rather than petrol powered engines, especially turbo charged ones.

Any of you fellas that were interested in them end up buying one?
A former member here has one and absolutely loves it. He has a nice thread on Expo Portal about his. Tex something is his handle there. My wife thinks she wants one so she can park her 200 more. We haven’t made the effort to go test drive one yet, but I bet we buy one when we do.
