Which Timbren do I need?

Here’s another pic of the FR250SDJ SES before and after, unloaded, I put on an F250.

Which Timbren should I get? I'm gonna need one that's about a foot or more long:

I'm surprised someone hasn't chimed in with a good 'ol "That's what she said" yet. 📏🌭😂
Well well well, look at you! I reported it to the moderators! 🤪

When you go to the Timbren website they have a lot of info and videos that explain their “Active Bumpstop” and “SES” products. This info plus this thread got me interested in the product. But when I plugged in my application (2024 F350 Superduty) they don’t offer the “Active Bumpstop” product for it. Can someone help me understand technically why?

My vehicle usage pattern is like this:

5% - Off Road
10% - 5th Wheel or 10K GTVW Cargo Trailer Towing
85% - Daily Driver w/ less than 500 ponds payload

Trying to decide if the Timbrens make sense for me. I don’t want to affect my daily ride quality significantly from what I have with my OEM suspension.

Unless you want to have those suckers engaging every time you hit a speed bump or pothole or some other road malfunction, go with the F250 version for all the excellent reasons stated above. There’s a bit of travel before engaging when I add the travel trailer, but “rake,” if there is one, isn’t even noticeable. And no one has criticized me for it either!

On their website they do a hard sell on the “Active Bumpstop” version but then they are not available for the Superduty Line? why?

So which one would you Timbren folks recommend I order? F350 that’ll be pulling roughly a 15k fifth wheel with 6 of us in the cab. Goal is to keep the truck level and have 0 squat (if possible).

Will be upgrading to the 5ther this fall so wouldn’t mind giving these a try before deciding airbags if would be required.

What do you expect the actual pin weight to be? 3k?

I think my truck sits fairly level with a tongue of 1100-1200lbs and the 250 Timbrens Being a TT, however, that aggravates the squat effect vs. a 5er so the weight comparison isn't quite apples-apples.

I like the idea of the #FRTT350J model for heavier loads (camper, heavier 5er, etc). They won't engage as soon as the standard 350 model, similar to the 250, but are stiffer (single vs double convolute) to add more spring rate.

I really like that aspect of the 250s, I don't know they are there under normal driving.

No more than 3k at the absolute most.

I’m considering installing Timbrens with Carli/Deaver rear leafs. With my setup, what would be the best model?

Also, would I still run the Carli bump stop drops with the Timbrens, or should these be removed?

I used the SES ones (FRTT350J)
without the spacers you can see the clearance to the bump stop. They in gauge about the same time as the overloads. Happy to take more pics if you want more. I have FOX 2.5 DCS (set at softest settings) and hitting the speed bumps in the neighborhood the Timbrens don’t engage the bump stops.

Thanks @mrmag00 appreciate the picture of your install.

Since Carli leafs remove the rear block, timbrens should contact the rear axle directly if I’m not mistaken. I’m wondering if the bump stop drops should be installed with the timbrens.

@BLACKCHERRY Do you have any insight for installing timbrens with the Carli leafs?

Just ordered a set of the FR250SDJ. I spoke with Timbren Customer Service and verified the the 250/350 are exactly the same part, just with/without the spacer. For $120 less I went with the 250. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a 5er with a pin weight of just over 3k so excited to see how these bad boys do.

I"m looking at a travel trailer that is 15,000 GVWR, so i'm expecting up to 2,100 lbs of tongue weight. Have a 350.

I"ve had the truck for 7k miles, and 4800 of that have been with a smaller trailer (9,600 GVWR Trail Trailer with 14k Equalizer WDH) behind it. So I"d say 75% of the driving will be towing. Further, I am going to switch to a 16k Equilizer WDH. I was initially thinking the 350 kit, but now i'm curious if the 250 might be better?
