🛠️ What did you do to your Tremor today? [2026 edition]

Changed fuel filters at 15,000 miles. The underbody one looked remarkably clean compared to other's I've seen. I fill up primarily at my local Circle K.

During the fuel drain, 4 gallons came out!!! Damn, that's money down the tube. My 15 qt drain container nearly overflowed before I noticed and had to empty it out before continuing the drain.

That does not seem right. Mine is about 1/2 gallon when I change my filters.

4 gallons seems like a lot of fuel, when changing the lower filter, usually less than a gallon doing it.
My thoughts exactly. I opened up the valve and started working on the upper. A neighbor came over and we chatted. After he left, I looked under the truck and my 15 qt container was full to the brim! I closed the valve, dumped the 15 qts, reopened it and about 2 more qts came out.

Scooting a 15 qt wide and open container full to the brim out from under the truck with minimum spillage is no fun.

The tank was full. Maybe I need to do it when the tank is near empty?
I just realized that my comment is irrelevant. I have never changed my filters with a stock tank. I swapped to the S&B 60 gallon within the first 3000 miles. Maybe thats what comes out with the stock tank? Seems unnecessary though.

I did mine with the tank about 100 miles DTE and maybe 1 quart drained out. I have read if you try to do it with a full tank it can create a siphon.

Maybe that's what happened. Next time I'll wait till the fuel tank is near empty. Besides wasting 4 gallons of diesel, it's a pain in the ass to dispose of it. My plan was dropping it off at Auto Zone in the waste oil tank.

Your auto zone must be more trusting than mine, every time I dump oil there, they inspect it to ensure that it’s just oil. Who ever they sell the used oil too might not accept it if it has a bunch of diesel in it.

I mixed my diesel in with the used oil but there’s a big difference between blending in 1 quart and 4 gallons. At a 1:1 ratio you’d definitely be able to smell it.

I've heard that if you do the upper filter first the lower will not siphon.. or pull the lower one with out draining.

I haven’t changed the filters yet, but I know for fact that if I had >3/4 tank on my old truck it would flow forever.

Put the black nuts on and shined her up. I can almost live with the factory wheels now. Looks a lot better.

I thought about putting the running boards back to factory but my 5’ 4” 80 year old mother will be here in a few weeks and she needs a step stool to get in as it is!

IMHO, we should never allow our trucks to sit when below 1/2 tank. Always! be topping off.

Perhaps look deeper into the siphoning cause, avoid distractions when swapping filters. Too, is there any way to strain or filter those precious gallons should this happen again next filter change? That's near $40 worth o' fuel.

Please forgive me if I seem to be telling you what to do (about keeping a full tank whever possible) - I feel it's only the prudent thing to do and this after a career of professional driving where we're taught to never drop below one-half fuel supply, to living in earthquake country, to the present-day glitches in our fuel supply infrastructure, etc...

Always be ready. Ready to go without having to hit a local pump first. I top off before I get to the driveway if I've used more than 10% of my tank volume (3.4 gallons/34 gallon tank) - then again I drive a gas hungry rig and there's a Tier One fuel station less than half a mile away.

Cheers.

Philosophical question...

Can you "do to your Tremor" if you don't yet have a Tremor?

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it does it actually make a sound?

Anyway, these turned up today. Hopefully the truck does soon.

I would splice a filter into a siphon hose and let er rip back into the tank. 5 gallons is fire starter for me though.

The 305’s are my favorite wheel from Method. What color is your truck?

Yes. Anyone with the foresight and the common sense to purchase FIVE matchiing wheels (which implies five matching tires) is good to go in our book.

Plus, this is FordTremor dot com - Super Duty Forum.

See! :ROFLMAO: 🏁

It's going to be Marsh Gray. This is the (AI) vibe...

I had black ones on my Black 2014 Raptor. I wanted to find something different but I couldn't find a set I like the look of better. The bolts don't last more than a year in the NE salt though. Will let them rot and replace with black ones.

Looks good. I thought I could live with the rims too. However, after 6 months they finally got to me and they had to go. I would have kept them if they just eliminated that silver exterior rim. I bought a blacked out vehicle for a reason...no silver/chrome anywhere on the truck. What are manufacturers thinking???
