What are the factory approved front lift points for a 2-post?

Hard to tell in your photos. Might be lighting. Mine appears straight across.

Looking for comparables… was an adjuster for years, seen many a car damaged by incorrect lifting.

Front of truck was lifted by lower half of trans member with pucks.

At this recent post all you need is a straight edge. Verify the condition of yours. Then hit a dealer lot for NEW trucks to compare. I'd think that's the best way since not everyone here knows their truck history (if the truck has/has not been on a lift) nor could anyone really say 10000% it was lifted differently or the same as yours.

Unless there is some easy to identify underlying condition or drivability concern, it's not a big deal.

I'm not saying this is the case, but from an outsider's perspective and based on some other posts you've made on here, it seems like you're maybe upset with the shop that did your exhaust and are looking for something to go back to them with. 🤷‍♂️

Regardless, I'm with Heavy on this one.

1. Yes I’m upset… first ever custom ordered brand new truck lifted incorrectly.

2. Trying to learn a new platform and understand if damage was done.

3. Come from sports car world where lifting a car incorrectly can cause substantial damage.

4. Trying to determine if the curve in the part is as designed or damaged? If damaged that means the mount ears on the frame are also distorted which is a bigger issue.

5. Similar post about brake pipe resolved that issue, trying to do the same here. CAD file proved pipe is supposed to be straight, but other trucks on lot show there are variances in mfg. Trying to avoid going back to dealer and crawling under trucks.

1) It's possible it was lifted incorrectly I can't argue there. Is it a problem?? Not looking like it at this point. Nothing screams damaged to me.

2) These are 3/4 or 1 ton (if not more trucks) they are pretty f-n stout for what they can do. Yes, small parts areas can more easily be damaged over others. Damage at this point.....still seems unlikely.

3) My truck weighs 8900lbs on the dump yard scale. IF by some chance it's own weight causes damage and I can tell the significant effect easily it's WAY more obvious than your pictures thus far.

4) Well IF there is a curve (hence "damage") okay...you have a point. As that seems to be the transmission cross member. Not that any "small curve" will/would effect the driveline.....MAYBE it could. There's no "bigger issue" with the ears without a MUCH BIGGER operating issue. See MAYBE above.

So to shorten all that : IF the transmission cross member HAS been damaged TO THE POINT CAUSING an operational issue. Sure....go try to fight the shop over the suspected damage.

IF....There's ZERO operational issues regardless of the frame mounted points, or the transmission cross member you don't have a chance in hell with the shop. (Reverse the situation as you being the shop owner)

Now please don't take what I've written personally. I ask you to first look at the OVERALL situation, and the results. If you think a minor "tweak" of some small metal mounting points qualifies as "substantial damage"....well you are an experience adjuster...you know that's not reasonable. Seriously in the long run I doubt anything will transpire with the truck in any way.

The truck was 100% lifted at a non-approved point. The bottom of the trans cross-member close out is some of the thinnest metal on the truck.

There seem to be some smart folks in here… ones who have brake pipe CAD files. Someone probably knows if the part is bowed by design for increased load capacity.

Cause you need "CAD" to tell you what's right???????? My truck is a 2022......bet you would blow that off as well. People HAVE given you their pics and suggestions as well. Maybe you can pay for the CAD files (it's not hard) and tell us.

Since you have failed to make any reasonable determination you have damage, you are asking everyone else to do the work for you at this point.

Yea....and your brake line is 1000% operational with no defects causing operational issues.

BTW as a past aviation guy I get the "we got to get this down to the thousandths measurement to be sure". So don't take it personal okay? Until YOU get over it or PROVE it's going to be a problem....have fun running that rabbit trail.

Just to cover my bases here you go. My 2022 has an aftermarket skid plate, so I'm not dropping it just for all this. As you can see the pics speak for themselves and I'll expand on my "findings".


1) Small outer "shipping tie down" welded to the brackets that are welded to the inside of the frame. Would I expect this to hold the front end weight of my 6.7L w/aftermarket tires and wheels without any damage. Huuummmmmm...it's maybe as the post lift jack point pad can help spread the weight over this point "just enough" to not distort the metal. Not the best jacking point (as we already have determined).

2) Transmission crossmember: This is a two piece welded part that has been formed/folded as a C-channel and lower plate. Note the two large mounting bolts. This holds the crossmember in the brace ears that are welded to the frame. This any significant force applied at or near these bolts would move upwards into the brace ears, hence the frame welds.

3) Shipping tiedown (???) and crossmember are not directly tied to each other.

4 ) Shipping tiedown : Close up shows the lower section outer welded to the brace ears which are welded to the frame.

5) Brace ears : Welded to the frame up to the top end. As well as the weld to the Shipping tiedown.

6) Brace ears : Welded to the top. Could be welded across the top as well (undetermioned). Pictured in the lower left is the mounting bolt (super close) that helps hold transmission crossmember.

7) Transmission crossmember : As addressed folded/formed two piece construction welded along the bottom from one side to the other as well as the front and back. I didn't verify if the mount bolts are stand alone through holes or if they are passed through a sleeve/bushing (of sorts).

8) Transmission crossmember : Upper C-channel and lower plate welded together. In this pic it seems as there is a sleeve/bushing (of sorts) welded in place to help with the support to the brace ears that are welded to the inside frame.

Given my observations :
Is it likely a POORLY placed lift pad "could" damage the crossmember?
>> Yes....now that's a WEAK yes. We would need to know where specifically that lift pad is placed. From what is in your pics the pads are under the mounting bolts. Thus the added stress moves along the brace ears to the frame. NOT the center span of the crossmember.

Your motor. Pretty sure you have a gasser which (if I recall correctly) is like 600lbs less than a diesel. So that's another point.

The crossmember construction and welds : There's a PRETTY good chance that this will not be some PERFECTLY flat straight side-to-side finished product. It's not there to be pretty, just be close to specs and function as designed. Should it be ??? Well if you know welding you get what you pay for, production line welds and craftsmanship welds are two different animals.

Some of this you already know with your past experiences with sports vehicles. These trucks are not exotic sports cars or "crafted" sports cars. They are production line vehicles. The end.
People here LOVE TO get out the micrometers versus just using a tape measure. Some itch themselves to death over 1/4" differences in fender height off the ground. Yet....they forget its got a rolled edge not held to some small dimensional specification of tolerances.

To end this I took a GD&T class (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as a required part of my job. I left the class knowing one thing for sure EVERYTHING we think we have measured in our lives is wrong. It's not hard to prove either. Talk about OCD issues.........

I’m not that bored, and I just took a shower. Lol. My cross member is pretty much straight, as I can see both ends in the photo.
Something about a shower and your crossmember and seeing both ends. I just can't...
