I've been on the road for a while and settled in to the family lake house in MN for a week or two. Thought I'd do a photo dump of a few truck pics from the trip so far. The truck has performed fantastic and all systems in the camper are operating as they should. The last remaining annoyance I want to resolve is the ticking noise from the diesel heater fuel pump. It drives me nuts to listen to it in the middle of the night!

I've done a bit more 4wheeling and getting a feel for this thing. I found that I start to pucker at around 17 deg tilt and thinking I had it around 20 deg tilt the prior day when I wasn't measuring it. I'm shocked (and really glad) I didn't end up on my side, but now I know.

I just did a quick scan of what I've missed in this thread. Glad to see so many having great trips in their tc's!

Several TOTM pics in there. Thanks for sharing.

Looks awesome!!!!!! Well done sir!

Regarding the fuel pump clicking, not sure if that’s “fixable” though I’m not an expert admittedly. My Alu Cab Khaya has a diesel heater from planner and the fuel pump clicked as well. I belive that’s just the pump, pumping…. Can’t remember if there is a check valve in the line because that could be a source as well. Either way I guess a fix could be to isolate (mine was on a rubber mount) or somehow sound proof it. I do remember that clicking fondly. My Truma Combi in the new camper is silent…. Which actually has me wondering if it’s working sometimes…. Either way LOVE your camper. Can’t wait to see more.

I've also seen a couple interesting campers along the way.

The first monster is a one-off build from TOURIG. It's a Boxmanufaktur camper on an F550 chassis. So many things I like about this rig but it is just too big for what I like to do. Seeing this in person validated what I think of the Boxmanufaktur composite boxes. They are really built nicely. This guy spared no expense in this build.

I also stopped by Rossmönster when I passed through Longmont. They were expecting the owner of this black Baja TC to show up any minute so just gave me a quick tour. I really liked it. As Chris-DTA has said, they will customize the build to whatever you want as long as it fits in their shell. They were super friendly and spent some time with me even though you could tell they were focussed on the pending delivery of this to it's new owner. I would definitely consider Rossmönster if / when I outgrow the current setup. I'm anxious to see what Chris-DTA has spec'ed out!

I think I can reduce the sound level of the clicking by better isolating it from the camper shell. Although the pump mount is rubber, I have it hard mounted to aluminum framework that is hard mounted to the camper shell. It's actually louder inside the camper than outside. I'm just a lite sleeper and when it comes on I just sit there in bed focussing on it. On the good side, it worked well when I was camped up in the snow. Even at around 10,000' it fired up every time. My old propane Suburban heater was always hit and miss (normally miss) operating at high elevation.

Nice! Those Super Single conversations are so freaking sweet!!!!

Rossmonster does make a hell of a camper I am also looking forward to Chris’s reviews.

Nothing too crazy done lately. I swapped out my MPPT that came with my camper for a Victron Smart Solar unit. The factory MPPT was only 20 amp, and I had intentions of installing another solar panel. The Victron was a nice upgrade in both rated amperage as well as Bluetooth capabilities. I picked up a second 200 watt panel last week, which will give me 400 watts of panels. Snagged a 75 liter Iceco fridge last week as well. That should be everything I intend to change or add as far as electrical components or accessories.

Snagged these yesterday as well. I figured I was roughly 10K miles from needing a rebuild on my Fox 2.0s, and with the additional weight I was planning on going with the Fox 2.5 when it came time. I happened across a deal on FB marketplace that I couldn’t pass up, so it looks like I’ll be swapping these out in the next week or two when time allows.

Agree on both. The big camper was riding on Liquid Spring Suspension and was in full squat mode for camp. He was also riding a showroom condition looking Ibis mtb and said his daily driver was an Audi R8. Interesting dude....

I'm happy enough with my F250 frankencamper, riding an 8 year old Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt mtb (that's starting to get a little rough around the edges), and have, well, an F250 daily driver.

I know it's not truck camper related, but thought I'd share a few bald eagle photos from my outrigger paddle around the lake today. The eagles are super active now. I caught up with one juvenile bald eagle too that hasn't yet earned his white head and tail. Photos are all super zoomed in on my cell phone from a boat, so no award winning shots.

About 7 years ago the wife were on our honeymoon road trip. We had several National park visits along the way, and had drug our kayaks along for the ride. We were camping between Yellowstone and the Tetons on the 4th of July, and ended up kayaking the Snake River for about 7-8 miles that day. About lunch time a gorgeous bald eagle dove the water right in front of us for his high protein lunch. Then perched on a tree for us to watch. About the most American thing I’ve seen on the most American day. I had pictures of it, but lost them in another kayaking incident lol

They are beautiful to watch. I've been coming to this lake since I was a little kid (my mom grew up here) and I don't ever recall seeing the bald eagles as much as I have this visit. Perhaps it's because I've never been here this time of the year or simply because their population is generally doing well now. Regardless of the reason, they are fun and beautiful to watch.

@Chadx @TRAMPER Is the soft wall bungee on the Supertramps fed through any loops along the perimeter to keep it centered? Thinking about converting the bungee system on my OEV to be on the exterior, but unsure if the bungee will stay centered well enough when lifting/lowering without also having some sort of loops/keepers sewn into the top

Just on the front two corners as far as I remember…. I’m 99.99% sure on that.

Thanks! Decided to just run out to the garage and see if I could get it to work. Tied 4 of the internal bungees together and wrapped it around the exterior. After one lower and lift cycle it stayed perfectly centered. Measured the un-stretched bungee at just over 20'. I guess that's all the reassurance I need to pick up a single long piece and some adjustable end hooks and give it a try for real.

Absolutely correct that the exterior bungee surround is only held centered (top to bottom) at the front two poptop corners. It has two clips on either end and they meet in the back so it can be released if need be. It's not a closed/sewn loop.

Blast from the past and Interesting fact is the original OEV CAMP-X had exterior bungee. Not sure why they changed to interior except perhaps to avoid looking at the strap crossing the windows. Original prototype video, by mixflip, from 2018 expo that first got me interested in OEV. So much changed between that 2018 prototype and my 2020 CAMP-X. Fun to go back and revisit the video that started it all for me (much like the first/early Supertramp camper videos that later brought me down that path).

Here is the setup I run. Kimbo camper I have had several years now. Outdoor on demand propane shower by Joolca, Dickenson propane heater inside, Truckvault drawers under the camper for storage, gen3 Starlink mounted to roof, extra solar and DC to DC charger, some other odds and ends. Great checking out all the other campers on this page.

AWESOME!!!!!! I’m super excited to see a Kimbo on here!!! I’ve only ever seen one in person in Utah, maybe 5 years ago…. They’re super cool! So glad you found us!
