Tha rare waters website looks interesting…. I hope I remember it next time I come out west to fish. Thanks for sharing that. You’re a kindered spirit for sure. I wonder sometimes if life wouldn’t be easier living in a van, down by the river.

I’ve only used it twice so far. I didn’t find it until late this past summer. I’m hoping to use it a bunch more come spring though. I’ll still fish more public water than private, but I hope to throw in a few private stretches as well.

Unfortunately my childhood best friend is a horrible influence on me, and has shown me this site, as well he convinced me to pick up a Smith Fly Big Shoals to float a few stretches in some of my travels. I typically canoe/kayak a semi local 20 mile stretch of water here a few times a year, but I’m thinking I may take the Big Shoals on it soon to get familiar with it. I just picked it up a few weeks back on my trip north.

FWIW, anyone who was following along as soon as the ST camera was plugged back in…. The single RCA style plug all the cameras work again! So all the other plugs don’t do anything in relation to the cameras and the 360 cameras work perfectly!!!

Well, TBH i ordered them both in March, with the specific intention of them “going together” I think it was a success! I’ll be honest the ST team really loved the way it looked lol, I’d expect some pics and whatnot posted on their socials.

Also, have they ever mentioned a time to install/uninstall the camper once you get good at it? I like the product and premise of the truck camper, but would almost need a dedicated vehicle for it in my case as I would only be using it a couple weekends a month at this point, at most.

Well, we didn’t talk time wise but the entire camper is held on by two fastguns. So to take it off you have to bolt the legs to the camper. Unplug the 30A DC/DC power plug, unplug the camera, release the fastguns, and jack it up 4-5” and drive away. I’d bet it comes off in 30 mins by yourself. I think on would be ever so slightly longer since you have to line things back up but once it’s in the channel up front you just lower it into place and plug things back in. For truck campers it is very fast.

Plan from here is to head south to Albuquerque maybe stop at Santa Fe on the way, than begin to wind our way east on I-40 stopping in TN and a couple places in NC before turning back north. No real agenda.

Albuquerque is a complete disaster similar to San Francisco and LA. Crime ridden. Tons of stories of folks moving cross country and stop to get fuel or sleep in hotel and they come out to find their entire Uhaul and the vehicle they were towing are gone. Huge crime. Most of those old Cops episodes were filmed there for a reason. I avoid it at all costs.

Santa Fe is nice and a good place to take the wife.

Palo Duro Canyon is about 15 minutes south of I40 in Amarillo. It’s worth a stop IMO, and offers a good place to stop for the night. Although not terribly far from ABQ.

Absolutely this. I try not to stop there very long in my rigs. Auto theft is massive, and Fords are targets. Had a buddy have to close up his gun shop there after theft become too huge. He kept upping his security measures, and they kept upping their game.

Ok done, no Albuquerque for us, fuck that place. We will not even pass through it. It’s too bad beautiful cities get so crime ridden. What a waste. I will avoid politics but so think we all know why.

Anyway, I’m not ready to lose my truck and camper so we will just hang out in Memphis instead. Hahaha
