Tremors and Campers let's talk camping!!

Yes, and I like how there are no gaps in the insulation. Once you have a gap, there goes your insulation. Material thickness is also different. You get what you pay for but geez, you pay an awful lot. The axles are rated at 60t each!
Yea trailers are selling fast right know there getting top dollar for them to

It's the things you cannot see which can be so important. I will probably go Bushtracker. If you look at the photos which compare the wiring, insulation and frame construction to a cheaper alternative, it helps a lot to justify spending more to get the better product. Bushtracker photos at the top, the other brand below. I am not, unfortunately, in a position to buy one, and there is a 12 month waiting list! That is 1 heck of a wall/roof frame. Not going to find many in the States with that beefy of a frame.

Still a work in progress but got a Hallmark Milner pop up for my 350. Wet weight about 1900lbs so no worries there ?. We’ll be taking it out for some boondocking out west and hopefully up into Alaska if they open the borders. Still waiting on tie downs and adding 200w solar w/lithium, replacing 3 way propane fridge with a compressor style and some other goodies.
Nice! We got a Northstar TC650. Supposed to be delivered in a month or so. We also did the compressor fridge. We will push the Tremor to it's approach and departure angle limits ? :)

We installed our 2018 Four Wheel Camper - Hawk model on our 7.3L F-250 Tremor this morning.
The camper dry weight (without water & fuel) is 1,389 pounds, truck payload is 2,773 pounds.
(Lariat Ultimate, power running boards, dual batteries, dual alternators, carpet delete, wheel well liners front & rear, upfitter switches, block heater, wiper de-icer)
The camper lowered the rear by 1.5 inches and smoothed out the ride.
We plan to go to the Grand Canyon - North Rim in September and Big Bend National Park in October.View attachment 4342View attachment 4344
We are also doing a pop up. Just bought a Northstar TC650

Does anyone have a caravan capable of serious and sustained off road capability? The ones I see on this thread all appear as only suitable for highway use.
We have used our Moby Trailer for some crazy stuff, serious off road boon docking. It has a coil spring trailing arm suspension that totally rocks. If you are familiar with the The Maze in Utah, I've been in there twice with it. We just decided to go with a truck camper and are selling it. Just for some interior sit down space and 2 dogs:) But a truck camper on the Tremor will definitely limit our destinations compared to what we did with this trailer. It will go anywhere you can get your truck.

Wow that Moby is crazy, are those solar panels?
HA! Those are solar panels for my house:) Just looks funny in the pic like it might be on the Moby:) The Moby does have a portable solar panel though, dual batteries, 36 gallons fresh, LED lights, 2 burner partner stove and fridge slide out

Back home after 3 week trip with Tremor and Trailer through the desert SW. Roughly 3,450 miles and 9.2 MPG overall. The 7.3 pulled well with all grades of fuel - I filled various 87, 89, 91 octane but could not tell any difference in power or mpg. It would be nice to have better range, however I did notice my bladder synced itself to the fuel mileage....
last stop in Weed, CA - view of Mt Shasta behind the trailer.
Thanks for starting a camping thread. Is anybody using their Tremor with a truck camper? Planning on putting a Bundutec Roadrunner TC (3500lbs wet wt) on a 7.3 F350 11400 GVWR Tremor and taking on Forest Svc and BLM roads for boondocking. Is anyone doing this kind of thing? Thanks, Kevin

Yes I am! I've ordered a pop up slide in which should be here by the end of this month. My wife and I previously have used our 4Runner with a Moby 1 off road teardrop trailer. It would go dang near anywhere we could go with the lifted 4Runner. We've just recently switched to the truck camper for a bit of indoor space and to have room for our 2 dogs inside.

We like getting past a few "gate keepers" to get back in as far as we can on difficult roads :) :)

We’re out every other weekend, a little top heavy with the Cirrus but we mostly boondock off the easier FS roads in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Looking forward to some winter camping trials next weekend before ski season kicks in. Moab for Thanksgiving.

Another truck camper guy here. I have an Adventurer 89RB that I will be carrying. I had it on a 2012 F350 SRW before going to a dually for a few years and now back to a SRW. Has lots of tire capacity and I think I'll be able to come under the GVWR but not too sure about the RAWR as it's lower on the tremor for some reason.

Haven't even been able to load it up as I've been waiting for the backordered tiedowns for 6 weeks.

Uncas - Great photos! Nice to see you using the Tremor and TC, getting your $100+K worth. Cirrus makes a fine TC. With your experience doing exactly what we want to do, what are your recommendations regarding features/options on both the Tremor and the TC? Thanks in advance, Kevin

Kevin, with the 820 you’re going to be right at GVWR on a well appointed F350 Tremor 7.3L, I tend to go as much as 800 lbs over depending on gear and full water tank. I actually think a full water tank is the way to go as it adds some more weight down low to help with the top heavy feeling.

Two options for upgrades, first is the Carli HD leaf springs, which I think would help with sway in crosswinds but is a bit spendy. Option two is the way I went, Airlift Loadlifter 5000 Ultimate Plus with WirelessAir and Daystar Cradles,Hellwig Big Wig Sway bar and front Sumo Springs.

I may eventually swap out front and rear springs for Carli and add some wider Ridge Grappler 37’s.

Good info. Thanks for the quick reply. Did your truck come with 11,300 gvwr? I looked into Deaver springs but agree that’s a very pricey way to go. I hadn’t really considered air bags, that’s worth looking into. The 820 has a dry wt listed as 2916lbs. Have you weighed your truck without TC, with TC dry the with TC wet?

What do you think about the big wig sway bar? Do you disconnect it after dropping your TC or do you leave it connected? How does it effect the articulation? I agree on your take regarding the full water tank.

A lot to think about. Thanks for paving the way and sharing your learnings. Kevin

Looks a lot like ATC (Aluminum Trailer Company) construction. To quote my favorite You Tube tool reviewer / surgeon - AvE, “both look plenty Skookum”

GWVR is 11,300, I weighed the truck empty at 7,725, fully loaded with us, the dog and all our gear for a week was 11,840, no water in the tank. With a full water tank plus a 2k generator, we’re at 12,205.
The Big Wig made a noticeable difference, I haven’t disconnected it since we don’t do any serious off-roading with it, mostly rough forest service fire roads. The truck is really to big for a lot of trails here in Colorado. We have a Jeep for now, waiting on the Warthog’s release.
