6.7 Sport Lariat F 350 Tremor has moonroof and 5 th wheel tow package

6.7 F350 Lariat with almost everything including moonroof- 3,268 #

F350 7.3 No moon roof with 5th wheel prep package #3846

That's my reason for going with the 350

What is different in the trucks to improve payload? Do they come with different springs/shocks?

F250 -> F350 is buying the door tag for legality. F350 Tremor Lariat Sport Ultimate 7.3 moonroof and 5th wheel prep package: 3707 lbs. 2/20 mfr date, front GAWR 4800 lbs. and rear GAWR 6950 lbs, 11,300 lb total GVWR (which was a specific option on the sticker.)

Total agree, it’s strictly a legality. My F350 Tremor Lariat Sport 7.3L was special ordered by someone that had it derated for 10k GVWR but then could not close the deal. I got it for $10k off sticker. The truck loaded with fuel, me, the wife, dog and a lot of gear, tiped the CAT at 8400 even.

I just dropped in this 3100 pound pig and hauled it from SLC to DEN without a flinch.

Now if I was waved over at the DMV station and run across their scale I’m looking at a $50 fine. The bigger issue is if I get into an accident, my insurance may decline to payout and I could be criminally responsible for someone’s injury or death. So I am in the process getting my GWVR changed by Ford.

How do you accomplish that? What is the process????

Re-rating a vehicle is affected by emissions requirements, crash safety, brakes, or other Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) requirements. Many factors must be considered. However, all of these are already taken into account on a de-rated F350, but the fourth position character in the VIN specifies the weight class of the vehicle. The VSO recode process makes sure the numbers on the VIN plate and paperwork match the actual vehicle.
When a customer wants a de-rate or an increase, he must go to the dealer, who submits a VSO inquiry, a formal process in which the dealer submits the request to Ford. Ford VSO Option Development then determines the request's feasibility and then process it. Re-rating happens, but it is not easy.

After reading all these posts, how do you determine what the payload tag will be BEFORE ordering a truck? I'm trying to build a 350 Tremor for use with a truck camper. When trying to build the truck on Fords online site, if the #11,400 option is selected, it will delete the Tremor package! So if I select none of those options, how do I know what the GVWR is?

I believe the Standard Tremor F350 GVWR for the 7.3l is 11300# with a max payload of 4230# and for the 6.7l is 11500# with a max payload of 4420#, the payload is reduced depending on options chosen. My derated F350 has a GVWR of 10000# and a max payload of 2990# but with the options I have from the factory, my door sticker payload is reduced to 2602#. So basically, Lariat Sport and Ultimate Packages plus moonroof, 7.3l, 5th wheel prep and bedliner add a additional 388# and reduced payload.

Ok, I dug a little deeper on the spec sheet. With the 7.3L payload is #3373, the little Note 6 was easy to miss the first time looking at specs.

The only question I have now is about camper certification. How can I be certain when ordering, that the Tremor will have the camper certification and of course the electrical plug in the bed for the camper?

If you order it with the ultimate trailer package it will come with the plugs inside of the bed. As far as certification, not sure. Sounds like you should call Ford directly and ask them what your options are to get a certification with the Tremor package.

I don't think the camper certification is available with the Tremor but does anyone actually care about that? Honest question, no camper company I've spoke with even knows what that is.

The bed plug is available with the 5th wheel prep package for sure. Maybe some other packages too, but I know that package includes it.

What is a "certification" anyway? Seems like to be legal just abide by GVWR/Payload ratings

F 350, 7.3, Lariat sport,. Ordered with every option except moon roof including dual batteries. Picture of the truck was fresh off the transporter.

If you don't want your payload to suffer from a low GVWR, make sure that your order doesn't include the 10,000/9,900 GVWR PACKAGE (68D).

This no cost package is optional on all trim but migth get automatically added in your order. Your sales rep have to manually ''delete'' it from the order (was the case with my King Ranch, but decided to go with the 68D for registration concern in my province).

By the way if you order a F-250 diesel Tremor, the 68D should be automatically removed from your order because is not compatible with the high capacity towing package (535 or 53Q) required for this configuration.

I'm curious to see if the sunroof really have that much impact on the payload...

What package should we order. What would be the GVWR without a package ordered. How does one get the highest payload with the 7.3?

That is low! Here my F250 Tremor. I have an XLT with premium package but no sunroof and my trucks capacity is 3005 lbs.
