How's that orphan barrel? Better that that Pappy's? That RR 15 is one of our favorites.
I have that one and a few others I've got to get around to trying.

So i love the F&F…. It’s low proof so no. Not as good as the ORVW10 but definitely in my top 10 bottles. Similar to a few others above been through a lot of these bottles. Probably my 5th at least lol. How's that orphan barrel? Better that that Pappy's? That RR 15 is one of our favorites.

Man - I know. It's one of those things where I want the odds to be in my favor, but at the same time, I would like to give a chance to the good people of this community.
My brother-in-law won one last year (Hover). We have not tried it yet.
Well at least one bottle went to a true connoisseur. Congratulations man!
Dude, you’re one of the luckiest guys I know! Congratulations!!!! Well deserved, you’re definitely someone who can appreciate it!
Well deserved. I on the other hand - lost.
Eagle Rare is usually on the shelf locally. Last time I was there, they had 8 bottles so I got 2. $39.99.Wooden Cork has a sale today. I can’t get Eagle Rare locally so I ordered a couple. View attachment 198382
A classic. That was the first bourbon I ever bought regularly back well over 20 years ago. I still enjoy it greatly. Never had a bad bottle.I just opened this one. Apparently I have 7 bottles of it. Four are state barrel picks. This is a normal. Just opened - and as Dexter said, tonight’s the night.

Feels like the right beverage choice for today…. Non stop snow lately another ~12” to 18” tomorrow.
This is…. Act 12, it’s good. I think I liked 11 better however. I know I have at least a bottle of that left upstairs…. Really they’re all soooo good!I finally cracked act 12 tonight. Very pleasing.
Idk how you continue to amaze me with your depth of knowledge on bourbon…. I consider myself fairly educated and not new to the game but I’ve never even heard of this magical bottle! Sounds freaking awesome! Hope that special occasion doesn’t take too long to appear. I opened my last “special” bottle on Nov 6th.Today I picked up a few bottles. Was able to score Ironroot Republic's Team Danger - their 10th anniversary release as well as a few other interesting bottles.
The addition today of bottle #600 in my collection is something really special. A bourbon known as a Buff-Turkey. This is a 16 year old bourbon distilled by Buffalo Trace for Wild Turkey, using their mashbill and yeast for fermentation, but with BT's stills, barreled and aged at Buffalo Trace. I've had a few bottles of various 16+ year Buff-Turkey barrels and each are special and amazing. This particular bottle is from a barrel that only produced 86 bottles. I'm saving this for a special occasion and look forward to when I can enjoy what's inside.

So this Yippie Kai Yay, is different than the High West Bottle of almost the same name? Another one I haven’t heard of but I’ve had the HW version a few years ago.I've had two bottles of the Buff-Trace juice ... One that was called "Yippee Kai Yay Mother Feather" and another called "Livin' on Turkey Time". Both of these are 16 year plus and priced as you might expect. The Founders reserve was significantly more expensive (don't ask how much so y'all have plausible deniability shouldy wife ever ask), so knowing the founder who picks all of these barrels, my expectations for this one are very high.
I hosted a recent tasting with friends where we attempted to go through 21 different whiskies made with Wild Turkey distillate (I called the night a "Turkey Hunt"), basically the full RR line-up, half the Master's Keeps, and a few of the higher end core WT line-up, and a few bottles that were made with souced WT barrels.
The Yippee Kai Yay Mother Feather was poured as a starter pour and won the day as the best pour of the day. The Livin' on Turkey Time and RR 15 probably would have given that a good time for its money, but everyone was too buzzed at that point to appreciate the higher end pours of the final round. Ended up having to send those home with people to enjoy at a later time. Fortunately have about 3/4 of the Livin' on Turkey Time left.![]()
The place that buys these barrels gives them fun names when they go to bottle them. Likely less than 100 bottles were made from that particular barrel. So this Yippie Kai Yay, is different than the High West Bottle of almost the same name?
