Swarf Works 3rd Brake Light W/Starlink

Looking good brother!!!!

I’m hoping to get mine mostly done tomorrow. I’m waiting on a pigtail for the 3 leds. I also hit up LVJ to work on getting the 3 leds working like the Raptor running lights. I will update when I get it done.
That would be great. Please keep me updated. I would rather run it that way.

I think the only part I’m a little nervous about is tapping into the BCM. The rest is straight forward.
I may have missed it. What do you need to tap into the BCM for?

If you want either the cargo light to come on in reverse or if you want the 3 smaller red LEDs to operate like a raptor.

Most Superduty owners don’t want the cargo light to come on in reverse because of the reflection off the 5th wheel cap. However I do like the idea of the LEDs working as running lights. I just want to be confident if I do it.

Has anyone found the right BCM wire for a 2024? I am 3/4 installed with wiring to the b pillar and need to finish it tonight.

Shoot I need to find it for my 20. I am trying to figure out how to accomplish this.

Attached are the six BCM connectors and their associated wire colors/pin locations for '24.

I wish this was simply an extra bracket for the stock LED Brake Light and Bed Camera. I really just need this bracket to hold the starlink. I love extra lights but, I definitely don’t want or need the extras on the third brake light area.

I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until someone makes that. You could probably hit up Swarf works and see if they would be interested in making it.

There’s always this, not sure of quality, but stumbled upon it today.

That’s basically what I was picturing in my head. Very simple design.

Looked at it a bit more, honestly might be the way I go. Not that there’s any plans to do so at the moment, but hey…

It’d be nice if this one had more of the robust clip from the SW one though. The Swarfworks one has the integrated cable plugs and fixed mount for said cables. This one just has holes to run the lines in, so it’s not “fixed”. It’s hardwiring option also seems to be “just run it from the underside through the gasket to lower the potential of leaks”, so not as robust there either.

I’m glad it went well for you. Mine has been a nightmare. Nothing to do with the 3rd brake light. My pass through wires are impossible to find. I was able to locate them under the battery box and fuse box. I didn’t have enough time to wrestle with extending the wires to a useable length. I think going through the wheel well is going to provide better access.

The wires that are supposed to in the passenger kick panel are not visible. I’m to the point where I am going to start removing items from the dash to expose the firewall. I truly believed this was going to be an easy and fun installation. My recommendation to anyone who is planning on doing this themselves, FIND YOUR PASS THROUGH WIRES PRIOR TO DOING THIS INSTALLATION!!!!!
I feel you on this i ran into this problem running my gmrs radio wiring and my z-flasher was going to connect it to my upfitters but no wiring in the kick when the weather stays better going to have to pull shit apart to go looking for them.

Thank you this worked perfectly, I am fully installed!

I know some may have mixed reviews about the pricing of the third brake light. However, I wanted to post some pictures of the quality and build in case anyone is interested. I had S2 lights sitting around so that brought down the up front cost.

I just installed the light and need to grab some pictures of it installed. Fit is perfect and install was straight forward. I ran the basic harness so the center light is hooked into the cargo light and the two outside lights are on switch together. The 3 small LED’s are wired to the brake lights. Starlink slides on top and wires to a switch. I also purchased a cover for the Starlink plug so it is not exposed.

I’ll post some updated pictures in the coming days.
This looks awesome!

Please feel free to reach out to me when you are ready. I am mostly done. I have a couple other options for accomplishing the end goal. I can’t imagine the wires being any more difficult to find.

The S2s are functional. Once I get the remaining parts everything will operate how I planned. The cargo light will function as OEM and will also come on with Aux 6 which is tied to the reverse lights. The reverse lights come on with Aux 6 or putting the truck in reverse. Amber S2s are wired to Aux 5. Once I get the remaining parts everything the 3 red LEDs will function as running lights like the Raptor and as a 3rd brake light. I am almost to the finish line.

I seriously cannot thank @Baja Designs , Paul from Swarf Works and Arod PTT for helping me with this project. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Came out nice and your truck looks great. When you get the running lights and brake lights working together and want to share the how to, please let me know. I need to get that done eventually.

I definitely will do! I talked to Paul about several guys on the forum looking for this and how if it was possible to further develop the harness to come that way. It would be another reason why his product is so far superior to anything else out there. Not to mention he is just a great guy to work with. I had a small hiccup and he handled it right away. I love seeing small businesses grinding and putting out new products.

Yeah definitely. Same experience with him. Answered my questions quick and kept me informed all the way through.
