RTIC VS. YETI HARD COOLERS

My Coleman 55 purchased about 10 years ago holds life for 5-7 days if you limit openings, use blocks instead of crushed, etc at a fraction of the cost of said Yeti et al. Can one be truly considered an authentic overlander without a Yeti? Those I know that bought Yeti always seem proud of the name but disappointed in performance.

Thank you, this is perhaps the best scientific piece of advice on the entire thread. Knowing this, next time i won’t even look at the direction of yeti and some of the other overly promoted brands.

 
I have every size of the Rtic coolers with wheels and love them! And they fit perfectly under the diamond back cover on my 22 Tremor
 
Going against the grain. I have this plugged into the truck and it works pretty dang well.

Not to call you out specifically @Rodd187 , but YETI came out with a fairly hard stance against the NRA which in my book makes them anti gun. They are not getting a single penny from me.

That being said, Pelican is USA made and they make all sorts of hard cases for firearms, so they get my vote and my money!
 
I have Rtic, Yeti, and Ozark Trail, honestly used in the same way don’t notice much difference between them holding ice. Got the Yeti on a screaming sale and was actually cheaper than a comparable Rtic. Needed something with the certified bear resistant sticker that the Ozark lacked. Was gifted a Artic later on and it’s nice as well but also lacks the certified bear resistance sticker. Having to spend the coin again would go likely stick with the cheap ones for non bear country and Yeti or Grizzly with a lock when in bear country. That is purely just to limit the hassle with FS Rangers since not every manufacturer that gets certified puts on the stupid sticker. Didn’t realize should have left the sales label claiming it on the Ozark to avoid the argument on a ticket.

There is nothing better and many tests show that. The owner is actually an outdoor enthusiast as well.

This is a very good reason to support Pelican. I have not heard that about Yeti, thanks for letting me know my friend!

Last I checked @Rodd187 was using his Yetis for target practice.

I read the article and I can see your point. I’ve looked for ads/commercials for YETI and I can’t find any. If they are out there, they are few and far between. A company can be anti (fill in the blank here) without actually coming straight out and saying it. I’ll stick with companies that support that industry.

Agree with you there, but without concrete evidence evidence to either side, I won’t lose too much sleep using the Yetis I own.
They seem to have such a loyal following they don’t need to really advertise. With their brick and mortar stores going up, they seem to be doing very well.
Back to original topic, most of the rotomolded coolers seem the same to me with my Orca seeing the most use.
 
Thank you all for your advice and contributions to this thread. I never realized there was so much to know about coolers and how many of us use them for our everyday and off road activities. This turned out to be an extremely popular and most useful topic. So since I personally don't use a cooler that often but I definitely need one for Big Bend in November I kind of went middle of the pack and today I purchased a 52qt RTIC wheeled cooler. Looks good, I do have other Yeti products but couldn't justify the extra money for equal performance. Thanks to all of you I was able to make a educated decision!! I'll see many of you in November!!

I like Yeti for the warranty, but I always get them for free in golf tournaments as "Artificial Lift - Oil" vendor gifts. From Halliburton, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes.. etc

I have the Tundra 45 for food/steaks, Roadie 24 for drinks, Hopper 18 for lunch/snacks. I also gave their camp chair which is great for my back and the beach blanket.. plus various tumblers etc..

Yeti Ice works well too, I have a bunch of their packs

had the carabiner pop out and get lost on the shoulder strap for my Hopper 18 at the girls fast pitch tournament. 10 min online submitting a claim and had a new strap in 7d which for Canada is fast..
