If you haven’t noticed, Spotify now has an option for streaming and downloading called Lossless that uses .flac files. It’s a shit ton more data, but it’s pretty close to transformative in listening experience IMO.
I grew up with vinyl and cassettes, and then made the move to CD and finally .MP3. The trade in quality for convenience revolutionized music, but if you knew what recorded music should sound like, digital was a huge step backwards in quality to prioritize convenience. This levels the field a bit, and might almost make the B&O U in my ‘25 acceptable.
Spin up something in lossless that you know how it should sound from vinyl or CD and I think you’ll be pretty happy if you can stomach the data needed (about 1GB/hour).
Back to rocking out.
Peace
