Not in love with Borla tone over 4K RPMs - Anyone else?

Sounds like you're a few steps ahead of me, to recap:

1) The only thing that would be needed to marry the Borla front y-muffler section to the FRPP rear muffler section is one of the borla mid pipes (readily sold separately for $100-$150 and easily trimmed).
2) The FRPP system (either the 17-22 part number, xr1 w/ oem resonator or the 23+ p/n with ProXS and resonator delete) could be "completed" by adding those two bits from borla to make a hybrid S-type with FRPP outlets and tips. The 23+ variant would be the best match, given the muffler type used.
3) That folks who are concerned about the bora S-type being too loud would still have real estate in that midpipe section to add another borla resonator where the secondary OEM resonator once was. That could even be done in a modular way, swapping only the midpipes via clamps.

The only left is to see if borla will sell just the front y-to-muffler section. The install instruction and BOM don't list that part number, but I'll see what Borla has to say on the matter tomorrow. If so, you buy that, and a midpipe based on measurement, and trim if needed.

If so, I'm sold enough to give it a go.
