That’s funny. There are plenty of us running them here on stock height with zero issue. I just installed mine 2 weeks ago and they came off another stock height Tremor. Nick@ApolloOff-Road should be able to confirm this.

Ran mine in Moab no issues. What is the difference previous issue vs new ones. If the older Fox model is not correct should we all get new ones?
No issue with the current shocks and no need to change.

The old part number, 987-24-000 had the following dimensions:
  • Compressed Length: 14.8"
  • Extended Length: 22.19"
The new part number, 987-24-087 has the following dimensions:
  • Compressed Length: 14.98"
  • Extended Length: 22.44"

Here is the difference between the two current offerings from FOX. I think they made a mistake in this listing since the math doesn’t make any sense….

The Extended and Compressed measurements are flipped on the Fox site.
Understood, with the same compressed length between the two shocks I’m failing to see a benefit in running the shorter length. Just more travel with the longer shock and no lost up travel.

The only thing I could really see is the ride difference in the valving based on shock length at ride height and the intended ride quality at ride height. You may get more shock length, but sacrifice a some ride quality at ride height since it's not in the expected zone. But...I didn't valve the shocks, so I'm just making an educated guess.

If If I recall the chart someone else put together, the shorter Fox had an extended length that was shorter than the factory shock. That could mean the shock itself was limiting suspension extension and topping out.

Doesn’t make any sense. they increased both compressed and extended length, which means they reduced compression and increased extension. That’s the opposite of what they should have done. Good luck to anyone that orders these new ones if those specs are actually correct.

If anything I would add lower spacers to push the resting ride height to the middle of the stroke. I don’t see why you would want more extension travel than compression travel. Anything less than 3” compression travel would make me nervous.

The HTO stands for hydraulic top
out. The whole point of the design is to absorb top outs, so why increase extension?

I know I will be needing new shocks soon and as much as I want to jump on these, I am afraid they will stiffen up my ride from what I am used to with the 2.0s

I suppose I could always drop back to the 2.0 and sell these on FB but I just hate going through all that hassle.

I’m curious how the stiffness compares to other off the shelf shocks. I’d like a set as well but don’t want to make it harsh.

I had the Fox 2.0 RR’s (Accutune) on my previous truck. Granted it was a gasser, but the OE HTOs ride way better in my new truck. Big fat trucks need big fat shocks.

Does the "stiffer" characteristic make it extend less? Seems like the pattern I am observing.
I always thought stiffness and extension were directly proportional.

Are those numbers for rear shocks? All the numbers, including overall travel, are much higher than any specs I've seen for front shocks.
The shock in question is for the front which is (now) 987-24-087 that replaces the -000.

Here are the numbers for all of the questionable shocks including the front -000 compared to the OEM Tremor shock and the shock meant for greater than a 1.5" lift.
