Funny thing is they actually match the seats better than the godawful pyramid shaped fixed headrests ford cobbled together

Switched out the old rubber steering wheel today for the higher trim (Lariat?) leather steering wheel. I re-used my old "XL" black textured trim with it as well as I think it sort of fits the interior better in it's current form and with the black leather seats and black center console I plan on adding later.

Got the wheel here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183660096792

I also ordered some 18x35x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grappler's. I want to order some Black Rhino wheels but they seem to be sold out everywhere---so I'm going to do a little experiment until I can find some to order:

Coated the center cap up top in 4 coats of matte black plastidip then added one really thick coat of glossifier. Going to give the same treatment to the other center caps then coat the stocker wheels in matte black w/o gloss and run that for a few weeks with the 35s while I look for/wait on wheels.

Looks good. Especially the trim. The contrast works.

I’ve never used PlastiDip. Does it feel rubbery?

Matte plastidip feels sorta grippy like a phone case, glossy plastidip feels like a wet latex glove. Very rubbery.

Not really a mod, but I did get a gigantic hail protector since she won't fit in the garage. I live in north Texas and we get car-destroying hail at least once a year, it's just a roll of the dice if it's going to happen or not each year:

These things look silly as hell but they will save your car or truck. I will have to post pictures of what the inside looks like, it's pretty wild.

Here's the inside of the hail protector for those who are curious:

Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.5x18's (F rated) added. Still looking for wheels. I'm just about settled on Black Rhino Arsenals in 18x9.5 but they are currently sold out everywhere.

Going to dip these wheels and then if I don't like it, peel it off. Whilst I wait on the wheels I want to come back in stock.

I haven't seen one of these without the factory centercaps yet like this, but I gotta say......I kinda like it like that.
Yeah I dig it. Seeing the lug nuts and bolts on the rear end is very hefty.

I just took them off for the tire shop so they didn't have to deal with them.

It doesn't look like the rear hubs stick out really far like they used to years ago. I think that's helping it look ok now. The front and rear hubs actually look proportional and that helps also.

Been enjoying the thread, thanks for posting

Added the OEM rear fender liners, the front seemed to already be lined w/ the carpeted stuff. Truck is really starting to look good.

Next on the list (and already on the way) is a hard/flush tri-fold bed cover and turn signal mirrors (thanks for leaving that out Ford).

I'm also going to build a custom rack for overlanding in a few weeks.

Still on the look out for wheels, Black Rhinos seem to be sold out in 6 to 12mm (positive) offset everywhere in 18x9.5, so waiting on those but honestly I have to say I don't hate the OEM wheels look. At 8 inches wide though they are pushing the center tread of the tire out which might lead to some premature wear (on the 35x12.5" tires).

Also starting to piece together parts #s for a reflow of the interior. Either going Obsidian or Armour on the dash trim and adding a matching flowthrough style center console. Lots of posts to come soon about that.

Truck is really coming together. I didn't know Rhinos came in a positive offset. Which wheel are you looking at?

Turn signal mirrors installed today, and much to my surprise (sarcasm). The turn signals don't work. But oddly, the clearance lights do. The truck is definitely wired on the mirror side for the signals, I'm guessing maybe there is a harness uncomplete elsewhere or the pin out on the mirror harness is different because the mirrors have BLIS and my truck doesn't. In which case I just need to move a few wires on the connector into different spots. Got to spend some time with a multimeter either way too figure this out some day.

Either way, they look great. They were a lot noisier (wind) than the OEM mirrors but I used the OEM gaskets vs the aftermarket gaskets as they were more robust and that seems to have eliminated most of the wind noise. It's within acceptable levels.

I also installed the rough country tri fold hard tonneau cover but was unsatisfied with the manufacturing quality so I shipped it back and ordered the BAK G2.

Bakflip G2 installed finally. This is a NICE cover. The rails are solid and don't flex when you close the cover, it closes under it's own weight as well. My only gripe is the main 2 bolts that hold it on from the front are not "king pins" so they can twist while you try loosen them when removing it. Nothing that can't be fixed later though.

And now just a few random photos because she looks so damn good! (As does her little brother in the garage.)

The OEM wheels + 35's are growing on me too. I want to keep them, I just don't know if the 8" wide is going to cause uneven wear on the tread or not. Anyone done this? My plan to get the Black Rhinos is mostly just to have a wider wheel for the tires' sake.
