Great Idea!
I am thinking you will to get a call from Elon Musk offering you a new position. A well paid position.

Just ordered one. I had limited space on the Air Stream but it seemed to work. I trained the trailer and when I got the camp site on backing it it kept losing sync or something so I never ended up using it. I'll give it a try again when I get this on.

I'll be testing one out with my Airstream (hopefully) this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes!

Great idea! I placed an order. Looking forward to the improvement in flexibility. Ive never actually used it because of that issue haha

I used it a handful of times and gave up on it because the truck would always lose sight of it. As a result, I got really good at backing my camper in pretty much everywhere.
That said, there are situations where this would be handy so if I ever get my truck back, I'll be buying one of these.

Before my father allowed me to get my Learners Permit, he made sure I could back our Boat into the space we kept it. I did it with a 66' F250 w/4sp granny without Power Steering. It wasn't too bad, I'd been watching him do it all my life.

It's really amazing that people think of learning to drive after they get a driver's license or permit when in actuality, you begin to learn to drive as soon as you become observant of your parents driving. I didn't actually get a license until I was 18 (skipped the permit stage) but was driving long before that. ๐Ÿ˜

I started driving hay trucks around the field as soon as I was tall enough to see out of the windshield with my feet on the pedals. About 8-9yo. Tractors long before that. Too little to throw 80lb bales around so I got to drive. Drove my first semi at 11. Some friends own a farm in Rosalia, WA that grows wheat and barley for Dry Fly Distilling these days and we were out at the farm visiting. He says jump in, we're heading out, so I hop in his truck and off we go, just the two of us. Dropped me off at this huge truck full of grain several miles from the house and before I could say anything, he shouted "meet you at the silos" and took off in a hurry. I don't think anyone has ever had that much faith in me since. I eventually figured it out and didn't destroy the gearbox.

Sorry for the sidetrack...I don't need or want trailer assist, as cool as it is ๐Ÿ˜‚

Quick update, the tracking numbers from all the packages we mailed Monday were not updating with USPS, so I stopped by my local post office to see what was up. They informed me that they got slammed with the tax deadline, and everything is a few days behind right now. Sorry for the delay, but your packages are on the way!

Is this meant to stay on the trailer or only put on when needed?

I believe the magnets are plenty strong to leave it on the trailer. (Obviously do that at your own risk though as every trailer is different)

I also would not recommend leaving it on the trailer if itโ€™s side mounted on the tongue (instead of the top). Not enough surface area that way to secure it on the road. But when I place the magnet on the top of my tongue, it seems plenty secure to drive with it. For storing the trailer, Iโ€™d recommend taking the magnet off to protect the sticker from the elements and UV damage.

Just a thought from a fellow additive manufacturing guy - would the truck recognize the same black/white checker pattern without the sticker? It would be cool to print the checker pattern into it with a multi-material capable printer. That would eliminate any concern about the sticker degrading over time if left outside. Obviously, a UV stable filament would be required, especially for the white.

Great idea! I might purchase one once I get my new trailer to see if there is room for it.

As far as the backup system I never used it on my 2022 F250 as it always wanted to calibrate at the worst time and I got tired of trying to use it when it was easier just to back in and be done.

If there is not room on the top of the tongue on your new trailer, I'd be super curious to hear feedback if there is room to side mount the sticker on your specific trailer.

One thing I've noticed in my research is that the Ford OEM sticker has two distinct "halves". One half of the sticker has a glossy finish, and the other half of the sticker has more of a matte finish. I tested several aftermarket stickers, and most of them just had a solid glossy finish. Only one aftermarket sticker had distinct glossy/matte combos that matched the OEM design from Ford. This is the biggest reason that I (actually, it was @MrsLegler) decided to just offer the original Ford OEM stickers that I get from my local Ford Parts Distribution Company. They are expensive, but I didn't want to risk making it difficult for the camera to track the sticker in case any of those design details matter.
