Old enough? I was driving as soon as my feet reached the pedals. My mother tolerated driving up the winging dirt road to our house but refused to drive down it. Probably pretty stupid because what 8 year old knows how to downshift to save the brakes. LOL

I should have said "legally"

We were on a trip with my Mom and Grandmother to see my Grandmother's sister in Garrison Texas in 1967 give or take. My younger brother and I were being little sh!ts.....so My Mom tossed me her keys to her pride and joy ....a 1966 ford galaxy and said....get out of here...go for a drive. .y brother and I looked at each other with that 'what the hell just happened' look and bolted for the door.
Off we went....not a care in the world ..until...we came to a bridge that said weight limit (don't remember exactly what it said, of course we had no idea how much the car weighed (again we were very young) stopped sat there for 10 or 15 minutes figuring out what to do. We did turn around and go back...not crossing the bridge. Funny now....clueless then
