Hitch size… 2.5” or 3”

Are you 100% sure about this? This is the first reference I have ever seen to a 7.3 Tremor coming with the 3" and not the 2.5"
You are absolutely correct. It is a 2.5 with a 2" reducer. I can't imagine I would ever tow anything needing a 3" receiver.
The 2.5" is more than what I needed for the 30' travel trailer. The 2.5 looks huge without that reducer. (upgraded from a F150)

Mine is a 2022 F250 7.3 and so it has the standard 2.5" receiver. Trouble is, I've been towing my trailers for years with vehicles built for 2" receivers. I still have the Chevy running the 2" set up. so I have an assortment of 2" hardware. I either have to run two different sets of hardware, or use a reducer and live with the reduced capability. I chose the latter. Until I get a toy that needs the added strength, I'll just go with the 2" capability. :cautious:
My TT has a GVWR of 7K and I use weight distribution, so no need to buy new stuff, will just use a reducer.

I've read through this thread and I'm still confused about what my new 2025 F250 Tremor with 7.3L gasser will come with, a 2 1/2" hitch or a 3" hitch. My salesperson says this:

"Your truck will have a 3” receiver which is the standard on all F 250."

However, the 2025 Towing Guide says this:

I don't know what to expect.

Your salesperson must have had his eyes closed the past two years. My 23 350 SRW Tremor 6.7HO has a 2.5" hitch as do all 23+ SRW super duties I'm pretty sure. That notice you posted agrees with my understanding.

There were a couple years where the 250/350 were getting a 3" receiver but by the '23 model year is seems they were all back to 2.5" as mine is. I would call it a 99% chance your truck will have a 2.5 but there's no substitute for just taking a measuring tape out to the back of your truck and measuring the INSIDE of the receiver to confirm, then ordering a shank after.

I just bought the 24 diesel and it has the 2 1/2 inch. Not sure there is a 3 inch, most of what I find is 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch. I will have to use the 2 1/2 to 2 reducer for my equalizer hitch and they offer with the 2 1/2 shank that i may buy.

3” receivers were a thing during the supply issues with COVID(?) was my understanding. Anything new is gonna be 2.5” unless it’s a diesels in a dually or 450.

‘24 F-350 6.7HO and it’s the 2.5”.

2022 F-350 Diesel - 11/21 build - 3" hitch - tossed aside for 3" Carli hitch and spare carrier.

2022 was the last year of the 2.5"/3" dichotomy. The division depended upon whether you had a gasser (2.5") or diesel (3") engine.

Any '23 or newer SD Tremor, regardless of engine option, is a 2.5" receiver.

I always thought on MY2022- Tremors the F250s came with 2.5" and the F350s came with 3". The Tow weight for a 2.5" is capped at 15K.

Post #34 is the correct explanation

My 2024 F350 6.7 has the 3 inch receiver.
