Garage Door Opener

I thought Volvo went full subscription service. But you can still buy them?
they did... where you have to play for your heated fucking seat .... wtf

There's no free lunch. Ford explains that quite well.
Ford figures if you're buying a lowly Lariat you can't
afford a garage

Don't shoot the messenger!
He was also just being sarcastic. ;)

Anybody else notice it seems the Lariat is the new “XLT”....? . I always wanted a King Ranch; Lariat was the top end that was affordable, and the XLT ( which I had a few), was the “luxury “ solution to the base. They keep adding higher trims and it seems I’m not keeping up lol interesting

That's weird. Part of the reason I went with the King Ranch is I thought it had the nicest leather. And I really dig the leather shop/cowboy boot store vibe of it, even though I'm not a cowboy at all. Just has some character I thought. And maybe I'm slowly progressing into an old man like my wife has told me for years.

Platinum is softer, but seems thin and like it might not age well during an 8-10 year holding period. (Platinum guys don't shoot me for my take.) Lariat leather is pretty stiff and doesn't have a great hand, but really is perfectly acceptable otherwise; however, I didn't want either an all black interior and I was not a fan of the Lariat tan. (Lariat guys don't shoot me for my take.)

BTW I'm not going to mess with looking it up, but I think base to base the margin between XLT and Platinum is around $20K.
Agreed. I think people are asking, “ why didn’t you get real leather?”, is because they’re used to their Camry with fake leather and do not know real leather when they feel it... imho. Lol love my king ranch interior.. super comfy.

I'd bet a small sum that a 6.7 XLT Tremor would have the flattest depreciation curve out of all Tremors. The "ROI" (to misuse the term) on options and higher trim packages is poor. It's like that in a lot of segments of the economy. Just like you don't want to be the sucker who builds the highest optioned-out home in a subdivision. Over time you will be sucked back towards the mean.
I would have to agree with this. Platinums may yield more in resale over a similarly equipped Lariat or King Ranch (and be more desirable than an XLT in the secondary market). But what is the resale value percentage of original MSRP in years 3, 5, 7 compared to the XLT? I would say, as you have suggested, it is a lower percentage. Don't get me wrong,I love the look of them all and enjoy the bells and whistles.

Nope. The first person to ask was my wife when the truck was delivered. “How much extra was real leather?”

We buy luxury foreign cars. So do most of my friends. What Ford puts in the truck doesn’t feel like nice leather that goes into a Porsche, Bentley, or a $500 pair of shoes. It feels and looks like lumpy scrap that’s used in a baseball glove or a pair of cowboy boots.

We have a Porsche with $58k in options, and about $25k are leather options. The rear view mirror is wrapped with leather. So are the buttons for the seat controls. The sun visors are wrapped with leather and contrasting stitching. There’s leather in places you’d never thought to put leather. That’s quality and craftsmanship. You cannot can get that level of detail using the thick production hides Ford uses.

The King Ranch leather might be a step above a Camry, but it’s a flight of stairs below the nicest stuff out there.

In the f150s up until this year the xlt had way more options than the super duties. I actually believe from 17 to now, the xlt has become the new lariat (besides leather) they’ve made a lot more features available on the xlt.

Agreed, they have an impact, and some have significant impact. That said, a Lariat will always be worth less than a Platinum on the secondary market, even if they were the same MSRP.
Not if someone is looking for a blacked out Tremor......

Cool

I still can’t believe it doesn’t come with the lariat. I didn’t realize it till now. I’m gonna see if I can add it. Kind of weird because every car/truck comes with it now. well except lower end fords.
