Garage Door Opener

I have massaging seats in my King Ranch. Are you implying the Lariat Ultimate doesn't?
that correct .. only king ranch and platinum and limited have massage seats

I guess that's one more reason to buy a Platinum versus a highly-optioned Lariat. Suffering at resale and suffering every moment one spends in seats that don't grope you.
I was going to get a Lariat, but tired of having black interior (don't want Camel) and I wanted the massaging seats. So I opted for the Platinum with Dark Marsala.

With the King Ranch you have to choose the Ultimate package to get massaging seats.

I'm not sure there's any difference between a Lariat Ultimate and a King Ranch Ultimate other than styling. One is city, one is country.

When one starts optioning up lower levels to upper level specs and prices, the problem comes at trade-in time. No dealer cares that the Lariat has the same options and cost as much as a Platinum when it was new. The Platinum will always have a higher book value.
Of course because the platinum costs more originally. But packages and features do have an impact on trade in/resale value.

Agreed, they have an impact, and some have significant impact. That said, a Lariat will always be worth less than a Platinum on the secondary market, even if they were the same MSRP.

I'd bet a small sum that a 6.7 XLT Tremor would have the flattest depreciation curve out of all Tremors. The "ROI" (to misuse the term) on options and higher trim packages is poor. It's like that in a lot of segments of the economy. Just like you don't want to be the sucker who builds the highest optioned-out home in a subdivision. Over time you will be sucked back towards the mean.

they were not my taste, didn't like them ... but i can always add it to my truck just find a junk yard platinum

You're probably correct with respect to the curve of the XLT.

Financially, I don't think any of these trucks make sense unless one is getting tax breaks, and at that point trade-in doesn't matter.

I highly doubt that any of us Platinum buyers are under the misconception that it is an 'investment'. I just want my fat ass mechanically groped and if it means a marginally better resale value then I'm a happy sucker.

None of them make a lick of sense financially if you're hardcore Dave Ramsey-ing it, but at the end of the day I think we are allowed to burn the money we make in order to enjoy life. This F350 will open previously-closed doors for my wife and I in the realm of RV's, and give me a far more stable towing platform for long winter drives towing a sled trailer, so the heck to the future value of that dollar. I'm not living my life behind the wheel of a Camry and running around to coffee shops and bookstores in my free time.

Indeed. I'm buying mine simply for the fact that I want it and I, luckily, have the financial standing to do it right now. The wife wanted a 5th wheel and we needed a truck to pull it. So I told her I was getting what I wanted and by god that's what I did lol.

I'm more referring to the addition of content that's not even that nice to begin with. More than one person has gotten into my King Ranch and asked me why I didn't get a truck with real leather. There's not $40k of difference between an XLT and a Platinum, no matter what options are on it.

I needed a truck to tow my boat home from the marina and didn't want to borrow one. Once the accountant found out, he explained that the $8x,xxx truck is really only a $5x,xxx truck after the tax savings. A $5x,xxx pickup makes sense to me.

Life's too short to drive beaters.

My brother just bought his wife a new Volvo cause she was threatening to go Subie!

"No way is a Subie going into my garage next to my Polestar'"

That's weird. Part of the reason I went with the King Ranch is I thought it had the nicest leather. And I really dig the leather shop/cowboy boot store vibe of it, even though I'm not a cowboy at all. Just has some character I thought. And maybe I'm slowly progressing into an old man like my wife has told me for years.

Platinum is softer, but seems thin and like it might not age well during an 8-10 year holding period. (Platinum guys don't shoot me for my take.) Lariat leather is pretty stiff and doesn't have a great hand, but really is perfectly acceptable otherwise; however, I didn't want either an all black interior and I was not a fan of the Lariat tan. (Lariat guys don't shoot me for my take.)

BTW I'm not going to mess with looking it up, but I think base to base the margin between XLT and Platinum is around $20K.

I like my massaging seats. They come in handy when traveling long distance.

I haven’t programmed them in my current truck. If it’s sitting outside I’d prefer someone not be able to break my window and open my garage door to steal shit for meth money.

Likely wouldn’t happen where I live but it’s just something that concerns me.
Why go to the extra trouble? You can open a garage door in under 2 seconds without a remote, they are fairly easy. Although one could just use the fireman tool to pop the emergency cord even easier and then your door opens with less noise. Sorry I don't get the risk on that one when there are several ways into a house that are much easier/quieter than starting with breaking into a truck. If I lived in an area where I had to worry about that I would move before owning anything of value.

I have several cars with the ability to program my garage doors to open/close ... I've never bothered with that feature yet, but I will in future. I'm building a new garage and will make sure the remote features of my vehicles are capatable with the openers. Never been a real issue before, but I can see it as a convenience when I have 4 doors to operate.

I thought Volvo went full subscription service. But you can still buy them?
