Full screen carplay? YUP

Got my truck back from the dealer, APIM replaced. Specifically the tech said:

REMOVED AND REPLACED APIM PER WSM PROCEDURE. PROGRAMMED AND CONFIGURED NEW MODULE. VERIFIED MODULE AT LATEST SOFTWARE LEVEL. TESTED, ALL FUNCTIONS WORKING AT THIS TIME. RECOMMEND CUSTOMER REEVALUATE. OK AT THIS TIME. ADDITIONAL TIME NEEDED DUE TO MULTIPLE PROGRAMMING ATTEMPTS AND TRYING TO RECOVER MODULE AFTER FAILING TO UPDATE.

Clearly the techs are having to justify to Ford warranty how much time dealing with these problems takes.

Additionally, the update took way less time than the advisor estimated. Good problem to have. The module updates can install pretty quickly, so still not clear what's going on when things are stuck but people can update with the Mongoose cable.

With all of that said, I now have Full Screen CarPlay, 75th Anniversary Splash Screen, Unreal Engine and climate bar! Such a nice upgrade, and happy to have it. Will leave the modem on for a couple of weeks to see if any more updates come down. After seeing no updates I'll pull the fuse for the modem again to freeze the software in time and cut the truck's ties to Ford.

For reference, for anyone wanting the Forscan tweaks listed above once you're APIM is updated, quoting a previous post in this thread:

Correct you have to enable the unreal engine using forscan. if you do not enable the climate bar, you will not get the look I have. The oil life will not work because our cluster isnt connected via ethernet like the F150 cluster to sync4.

Enable 75th Anniversary Splash ScreenAPIM7D0-03-01xxxx24xxxx--Requires Sync ver 22012 or higher - reset APIM in FORScan after either/both changes
Enable Unreal Sync ThemeAPIM7D0-02-03xxxxxxx1xx--
Enable Cimate Bar at the bottom of Sync screenAPIM7D0-02-02xxx*xxxxxx--use 2 for non-hybrid or 6 for hybrid - requires Unreal theme above
Enable Heated Steering Wheel on climate bar aboveAPIM7D0-02-01xxxx*xxxxx--see APIM spreadsheet for your value
Enable Cooled and/or Heated seats to climate bar aboveAPIM7D0-02-01xxxxx*xxxx--if you have heated & cooled seats then use A
Enable Lightning F150 Splash ScreenAPIM7D0-03-01xxxx1Fxxxx--
Enable Oil Life in Sync Settings, VehicleAPIM7D0-10-01x8xxxxxxxx--

Also worth noting, my Forscan modification to the APIM enabling the Silent Mode toggle persisted (made in Plain English), as did having FordPass enabled. I was expecting to lose both of those.

I did lose my Forscan changes removing the Sirius XM audio source and extending my engine off radio runtime, both made in as-built.

Clearly they did some amount of data migration to keep Ford Pass fully connected, so perhaps some of the settings we can only access in Forscan are migrated as well?

How long did it take to get your new APIM. I have been waiting for weeks. Dealer tells me that it can’t be replaced until they have the new software

My trip to the dealer where they determined it needed to be replaced was August 17th. I was notified they had the new APIM in their hands August 28th. Today was the earliest appointment for install.

So 11 days to get the APIM to my dealer.

Crazy that yours is taking weeks! They did warn me it could be a bit since they didn’t know where one was right away, but clearly didn’t take that long. No idea why yours would be taking longer.
