Sorry for my tardiness, didn't see this until now. It depends or what you plan to attach as some things are not magnetic! You can also attach things with straps. Remember you can only attach one magnet per side as two cannot occupy the same hole. You have the ability to occupy 5 spots per rack on each side. For instance I recently decided to put a tool role on my passenger side that already had 3 magnets and I used velcro straps to secure it, I left the magnets in place and mounted the tool role on top of them. I recommend 1 "L" or angle bracket as it gives you additional space located at 90°.Hope this helps.
