Ford Customer-placed Trailer Camera + TPMS kit for 2023?

So I couldn't really get a good picture of the cables. So I stole one from the website. This is what my cable's look like. The cable splits but doesn't have 4 different ends. So I think I need to order PN's PC3Z-1A189-J (TPMS kit) and the cable (PC3Z-15A416-A) to replace my cable......I think.

Does this make any sense? Is this right? Guy at the parts desk didn't understand this at all......
Right. I had 3 cables and used 2. The one which plugs into the truck, splits off for yaw sensor, continues to a pin for the camera and the to the pin for the TPMS receiver is what I used. The second cable is just for the camera.

Does the yaw sensor provide any info? is it confirmed that it does or does not do anything for sway control?

It does provide data, but I don’t know if any info it is feeding to the truck is being used or how. My impression is the yaw sensor is more relevant to 5th wheel applications.

The yaw sensor comes with Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Trucks have sway control without PTBA, so I do not think the yaw sensor is used for that. For MY22 and earlier, the instructions said to just use it for 5th wheel and gooseneck and to use the sticker on the tongue for conventional, but I think the yaw sensor would work for conventional if you set it up right. On F-150s, they did use it for conventional also. For MY23 and later I think that they say to us it for all PTBA applications.

Here are some pictures of the MY24 vs. MY22 7/4 connector for future reference. The keying on the receptacle is slightly different on the MY24 but the connector still fits. The 12-pin TPMS/camera/BLIS connector behind the bumper appears to be the same as well. Even though the parts database says that HU5Z-14489-B does not fit the MY24 I feel like it must. Ford is probably just trying to get you to buy the entire trailer kit with harnesses and sensors. For those of us that already wired up a trailer for a MY22, that's just ridiculous. I'm ordering the receptacle only and will confirm that it fits in a week or two. Would have been easier if I just remembered to pull the damn thing off at the wrecker last year.

I had the camera/tpms kit for my 2022 Lariat which read the temp and pressure. I kept the harness, tpms relay box and camera when I traded in my 2022 for the 2024 Lariat Tremor with 5th wheel prep that came with the yaw sensor

After buying a new bumper plug to accommodate the camera/tpms harness the camera works fine. I bought four new sensors for the tires HC3Z-1A189-D TPMS 47 for a new trailer and cannot get the truck to go into learn mode for the sensors and its showing a trailer tpms module error. Any ideas on how to get the truck into a learning mode or how to reset/forget the module fault? I've gone through all of the menus on the dash and center panel without any luck. Thanks.

What is the error? Might mean the module is broken, bad, or has a wiring issue. When I connected my trailer to the new truck it immediately found the TPMS module so what you are saying is a little strange. It did not report tire pressures until I got the rig moving, though.

It’s a little more complicated with brand new sensors. You need to wake them up first by towing the trailer around the block. Then park and go through the Trailer Information menu in the IPC to Tire Information and select “New Trailer”. It will then walk you through airing down each sensor to program them to the module.

Reviving an old thread -

What about the 23 and up TPMS module and sensors working when the trailer is plugged into a 2022 truck?

Specifically LC3Z-1A189-AB (which I think replaces LC3Z-1A189-J)

My 2022 has the trailer kit with camera and yaw and the harness has the cable with a plug cap for the TPMS module - but it looks like getting that also gets a whole new wire harness and connectors that aren’t needed.

It’s an interesting question that would have to be proven, but given the pin outs are the same for all the cameras & TPMS it should just be a case that the additional pins with trailer BLiS on them would simply be ignored by a MY22. Seems unlikely that Ford wouldn’t make them interchangeable between model years.
