Ford Customer-placed Trailer Camera + TPMS kit for 2023?

Is pro trailer back up assist required for the yaw sensor? Also does the tpms show temperature?

All good questions which I cannot answer. I will look into it and see what I can find.

I thought that the yaw sensor was just for the PTBA. What are you looking for it to do?
The trailer TPMS does show temperature at least for the 2022 version. That is very useful. The 2024 version comes with different sensors, but I am guessing they did not drop that feature.

I have a ‘23, was looking at the customer placed aux camera and tpms. I’ve read and watched where the tpms does and doesn’t read temp. I’ve read where the aux camera will and will not turn on when driving forward. Just wondering if the fine folks on here have better info than what I can find.

What I know is that with my 2022 XLT truck with SYNC3 that was ordered with the TPMS and camera kit it does read trailer tire temperature and I can drive on the freeway with the aux trailer camera on. some things will turn the camera view off, but it can be turned on while driving forward and will stay on for a long time. I have not towed the trailer with the 2024 Platinum Tremor yet, but I did plug it in and verify that the camera and TPMS worked. I don't think I looked for the temperature display. The 2024 truck and trailer are in different states right now so I can't do more experiments.

Thanks for the info. I may just get the tpms for now and hold off on the camera until I know for sure it can be on while driving. I have a wireless camera now but don’t like the extra monitor on my dash

If you just want to install the TPMS
Partial update but really the part that’s relevant for this audience: installed the kit and it was very easy. Snap-in replacement for the 7/4 pin wiring harness plug in the bumper. Tested the camera and it works immediately and easily. Very helpful instructions that were basically unnecessary but reassuring at the F150 lightning forum. The key info is:

Step 2: Order parts. I used Full Kit Part# LC3Z-1A189-A. The LC3Z kits are for a F-250, but it worked just fine. There's also part numbers for the F-150 specific and will start with ML3Z. The part number is the same "1A189" It's just ML3Z vs LC3Z to indicate F-150 vs F-250. SoML3Z-1A189-A is the exact same kit with a different part number.

The last letter will dictate whether it's TPMS only, Camera only, TPMS+Camera, or Yaw Sensor or not. The plug replacement is the same for all of them, only the harness and accompanying modules differs. My "A" kit accommodates all of the modules and included everything but the yaw sensor (aka w/ Pro Backup Assist)

"A" is Cam + TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"B" is TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"C" is Cam w/ Yaw Prep
"D" is Cam + TPMS w/o Yaw Prep
"E" is TPMS w/o yaw Prep
"F" is Cam w/o yaw Prep

Next up for me is wiring this into my airstream in a way that’s not ugly and adding in the TPMS and Yaw setup to test the whole thing. I’ll share the final runthru video when it’s all set up! The image quality and just convenience of the setup is going to be hard to beat - you can split screen the new rear cam (left image in attachment) with the existing trailer / side mirror camera (right image) all on the big display.
I recently bought the "C" version for my 2024 but I want the TPMS sensors for my trailer as well. Can I just buy the TPMS sensors to put them in my trailer tires? I have the camera and yaw prep kit......is their something else I need to get to make it all work?

Yes. You need the receiver box that mounts to the trailer and the trailer wiring harness that includes the connector for that. I will try to get some pictures in a little bit.

Does your wire harness have 4 connections? Should be a 7 pin plug and the end that goes into the yaw sensor on one end. Other end of the harness should have two ends as well-one for the camera and one for the TPMS module.

To respond to some older comments as fast as the aux camera being on while driving-the answer is yes. I pull it up while passing people to know when I am clear. I find this very useful.

I need to look, I assume yes but I need to verify.

That is the TPMS receiver module that came with my 2024 truck and the mating connector. That receiver and four TPMS sensors come as PN PC3Z-1A189-J. The cable kit that came with the truck is PC3Z-15A416-A and includes connectors for the Yaw sensor, Camera, and the one in the photo for the TPMS receiver. The Camera connector is different than what came with the kit with my 2022 truck. I unfortunately do not have the Camera for the 2024 kit because they unfortunately did not offer it that way.

Are you referring to the camera connector at the camera or at the truck? Do you know if the circular plug in your bumper is the same between the MY22 and MY24? The plug with the red gasket in this picture looks the same but hard to tell for sure. The reason I ask is I need to confirm if a MY22 trailer harness will plug into a MY24 truck.

Yes, they are the same. I have plugged my trailer that is wired with the 2022 kit into my 2024 truck and it seems to work fine.

Added the camera, yaw sensor and TPMS. All integrate into the truck display. TPMS provides pressure and temp for 4 trailer wheels on the dash with trailer option selected. Rear camera works when the dash camera button is turned on. But has anyone been able to change the default display from the bed camera to rear or another camera on the main display?

So I couldn't really get a good picture of the cables. So I stole one from the website. This is what my cable's look like. The cable splits but doesn't have 4 different ends. So I think I need to order PN's PC3Z-1A189-J (TPMS kit) and the cable (PC3Z-15A416-A) to replace my cable......I think.

Does this make any sense? Is this right? Guy at the parts desk didn't understand this at all......

I don't think the camera that you have will plug into that cable. That cable has a 8 pin camera stub out if I remember correctly. Also, those two together are sold as this: https://www.ford.com/product/trailer-sensor-kit-tpms-only-with-pro-trailer-backup-assist-p2829944945 and I think that you need this camera kit for that: https://www.ford.com/product/trailer-mounted-camera-p2791667870. I think that for your camera you need the older style trailer cable which I don't see on Ford accessories any more. I don't think I have that part number anywhere. You may have to start over from scratch.

Thanks for the response! I’ve seen that option on the ford accessories site but the camera it shows looks different than the version that comes with the 7/12 pin and whole harness. So I guess it’s kind of left me confused.

I’ve seen what looks just like our “OEM” cameras sold with aftermarket camera systems, so I’m presuming that Ford also buys them from an outside source since they already exist versus creating one just for Ford products?

Awesome. My ‘24 came with pro trailer assist and the TPMS kit. So it came with the yaw sensor and yaw sensor cable but also came with the new cable for the tpms. Including the tpms module and the 7/12 way for the number and all that. The TPMS cable has the plug for the camera also. I’d like to add the camera. I see the package on ford accessories but it comes with the camera, 49’ camera cable, the harness, and the 7/12 plug. I already have the harness and the 7/12 plug and would think I could just get the camera and 49’ camera cable as that’s all I need. I don’t see that option anywhere though. I would think I could save some money by not getting the harness and plug but don’t think that’s possible.

Check the resale market. Quite a few of the cable/camera packages have been offered on eBay and other resell platforms as well as right here from buyers that never even opened the boxes or came with their new/used trucks and they had no use for them.

Also, call your Ford dealer and ask the Parts dept if they have any on the shelf that were never picked up by the buyers and they are offering them for sale.

I scored a full set minus the TPMS sensors from my dealer for $100 just to have as a backup for when/if my original ones fail or get damaged. It was still in the original box with the paperwork.

I got another one while perusing my local auto demolition yard and saw a few late model super duty’s that were totaled but still had the large clear bag of cables and stuff in the storage area under the rear seat. I guess they didn’t realize the seats lifted??
