Hi all - I'm trying to order the customer-placed "GENUINE FORD TRAILER-MOUNTED TRAILER CAMERA + TPMS" kit for my 2023 F250 tremor.

Can anyone confirm that the 2022 kit will continue to work with 2023? Most of the parts sites I've found say it's not compatible (example) - but I found one thread, unconfirmed, where someone installed the 2022 kit with no issues. The Ford part number I keep finding is LC3Z1A189-A . If anyone out there has installed this one on a 2023 SD and it worked, please let me know. If i decide to give it a try I'll update this thread too. Thanks.

Update 1: It looks like there are kits that work with Sync3, and some (like what I want) that work with Sync4. So the link above might actually be a Sync3 truck which would mean it's not going to work for me.

Update 2: i think the kits that end in -A will work, while the -D kits are for Sync3. About to order one and find out. But would still love to know if someone else has already done this!

Excellent, thank you @Joeram44 - I ordered my kit today (the -A one) and will update back here in a few weeks when I get it set up & share my experience.

Is the wiring already in place? On an xlt with tailgate cam only currently. Looking to add box cam to a headache rack to hook up gooseneck trailer. Will a second camera come up in sync 4 screen, or will it have to be programmed? Thanks In advance, new to this

I have been wondering what the difference is since the 2023 order guide came out. There is no longer an option for trailer TPMS and camera. One or the other and not both. Same with ordering it from Ford Accessories. Seems really silly because anyone doing road trips with a resonably sized trailer should want both.

With my 2022 truck I ordered the combined kit and installed it on my Trailer. For the 2023, (now 2024) truck I decided that TPMS was more important to me than the camera so I ordered that. If Ford ever builds me a truck, I am going to plug it into the trailer and see what works. I do not want to have to rewire the trailer for the newer truck because I plan on keeping both and want the option to pull the trailer with either truck. The 2022 is a SYNC3 because XLT was the highest trim available for a standard cab dually and the 2024 is a Platinum with SYNC4 so I could be screwed.

Partial update but really the part that’s relevant for this audience: installed the kit and it was very easy. Snap-in replacement for the 7/4 pin wiring harness plug in the bumper. Tested the camera and it works immediately and easily. Very helpful instructions that were basically unnecessary but reassuring at the F150 lightning forum. The key info is:

Step 2: Order parts. I used Full Kit Part# LC3Z-1A189-A. The LC3Z kits are for a F-250, but it worked just fine. There's also part numbers for the F-150 specific and will start with ML3Z. The part number is the same "1A189" It's just ML3Z vs LC3Z to indicate F-150 vs F-250. SoML3Z-1A189-A is the exact same kit with a different part number.

The last letter will dictate whether it's TPMS only, Camera only, TPMS+Camera, or Yaw Sensor or not. The plug replacement is the same for all of them, only the harness and accompanying modules differs. My "A" kit accommodates all of the modules and included everything but the yaw sensor (aka w/ Pro Backup Assist)

"A" is Cam + TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"B" is TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"C" is Cam w/ Yaw Prep
"D" is Cam + TPMS w/o Yaw Prep
"E" is TPMS w/o yaw Prep
"F" is Cam w/o yaw Prep

Next up for me is wiring this into my airstream in a way that’s not ugly and adding in the TPMS and Yaw setup to test the whole thing. I’ll share the final runthru video when it’s all set up! The image quality and just convenience of the setup is going to be hard to beat - you can split screen the new rear cam (left image in attachment) with the existing trailer / side mirror camera (right image) all on the big display.

Very helpful. Keep it coming 👍🏽

Hey, I purchased a tremor off the lot and the window sticker says "CSTMR TRL CAM *CSTMR INST ACCY 475.00" but nothing extra came with the truck. I didn't realize this till I got home. Is this a wiring thing or should it (whatever that is) come with the truck? Thanks!

Yes, you should have gotten a box with the camera, trailer wiring harness and a replacement trailer connector for the truck in it.

This is what should be in the box

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm going to be picking up my 24 F250 Lariat Ultimate Tremor next week finally. I'm not sure if it has Yaw Prep though. I didn't see that as an option or any kind of "Pro Trailer Backup Assist" when ordering. If I'm wanting all three items (Yaw, TPMS, Camera), I'm assuming I'd need to order "D" and I'd get all three, right?

It looks like the Lariat Ultimate package includes the "Pro Trailer Backup Assist", so I'm assuming a Yaw sensor will come with that. What's weird is both the "A" and "D" part numbers do not suggest a yaw sensor is included in the description nor is it in the picture. Either way, I'll order the "D" since it's the same price and if I wind up with an extra yaw sensor that's fine. I have other trailers.

Hi - ok finally got this finished up over the holidays and the end result is pretty great.

Camera, Trailer TPMS & yaw sensor all connected via the single plug in the bumper. A few comments on each:

* camera routing the cable was by far the most tedious and complicated part. But this was entirely cosmetic - we have a 30' airstream and I didn't want the cables to be visible. So it turned into a project of routing it over the rear roofline, thru the fridge vent, around the wheel well and up to the trailer tongue. End result is great. I'm sure there is a simplier way to do this and/or on a different trailer (non-Airstream) it might have been easier.
* camera has no microphone (which is a downgrade from the original wireless one that came with the trailer). And camera image quality is better, but not as good as I'd expected from a wired camera - it's clearly lower quality than the other cameras built into the truck. But the integration into the onboard systems is excellent.
* yaw sensor was super easy to install. This came with my truck (not the kit) - but the kit has the integrated wiring harness. So i did *not* use the Yaw sensor harness that came with the truck (i used the combined harness that came with the -A camera kit); but i *did* use the Yaw sensor itself. Adhesive & big zip tie to hold it to the trailer tongue as per instructions.
* TPMS was easy - took trailer to discount tire, they swapped out the airstream sensors for the ford OEM ones that came in the kit; 30 min and about $15/tire out the door as it was only a "partial unmount". Paired up with the truck and good to go.

I've got a bunch of pics on here from the install; the best one imho is the fully integrated view - while pulling the trailer it's got tire pressure, all the truck info, and the integrated camera view all with no external monitors or crappy cables or displays anywhere. super sweet. let me know if you have questions!

Awesome. My ‘24 came with pro trailer assist and the TPMS kit. So it came with the yaw sensor and yaw sensor cable but also came with the new cable for the tpms. Including the tpms module and the 7/12 way for the number and all that. The TPMS cable has the plug for the camera also. I’d like to add the camera. I see the package on ford accessories but it comes with the camera, 49’ camera cable, the harness, and the 7/12 plug. I already have the harness and the 7/12 plug and would think I could just get the camera and 49’ camera cable as that’s all I need. I don’t see that option anywhere though. I would think I could save some money by not getting the harness and plug but don’t think that’s possible.

In this thread @Rhymer_Family-Travels ordered just the camera and cable (on accident though)

Thanks for the response! I’ve seen that option on the ford accessories site but the camera it shows looks different than the version that comes with the 7/12 pin and whole harness. So I guess it’s kind of left me confused.

This is great news. Very happy that it worked. After going through the install, do have any clue why Ford would say that it is not compatible with the MY23+ trucks?
Did the 2023 instructions say to install the yaw sensor on a conventional trailer? For 2022 they said to use the tongue sticker on conventional and to use the yaw sensor just on 5th wheel and gooseneck.

My ‘24 came with fifth prep so it has the 7/12 plug in the bed. The TPMS kit came with a new 7/12 pin to replace the 7/4 in the bumper. The yaw install instructions show a conventional trailer. It did come with stickers but it doesn’t need them. The hitch assist feature backs me right up to a trailer hitch without stickers. And it works great. I think they had some software kinks to figure out on the whole backup assist and hitch assist features but they got it working great on the newer models. I will be installing the yaw sensor on my conventional trailer. No stickers needed anymore.

There was nothing in the process that seemed hacky or in any way incompatible with MY23. All the harness plugs, 7/12 plug, onboard software and tpms sensors all just worked as expected. So - shrug ? 🤷‍♂️ it seems like it ought to be listed as MY23 (and assume MY24 but I haven’t got one to verify).

The instructions did say to add the yaw sensor for conventional but tbh I am not exactly sure how to check and see if that is working :) based on my reading it sounds like if I’m pulling a trailer and it starts to yaw the traction control / anti sway stuff automatically kicks in. But I don’t know of a display that would show ‘current yaw’ like other values. Happy to learn this if someone else knows !

I’m pretty sure the yaw sensor is for the backup assist and reverse trailer guidance. It has nothing to do with sway.

To check and see if it’s working, press the backup assist button with the trailer attached and go through the prompts to calibrate it.

I have a 2020 F250 and I am looking at the backup camera tpms kit. I can't figure out if I need the LC3Z-1A189-A or LC3Z-1A189-D. I do not have the 5th wheel kit on my truck. I see one is with YAM prep and one is without? First how do I know if I have the YAM sensor which I believe I don't need since I am just hauling a 29' bumper pull snowmobile trailer. Can either kit work if I don't have the YAM sensor?
