DPF % Decreasing?

@ttrein : Get everything loaded up and running. See what values are active and show use during your driving. That will be the easiest way to know what's working to help you.

The ChatGPT stuff should help if those work correctly. Miles Since Last Regen is a must have, but that is already part of the Ford PIDs. Not sure what you are doing there....does this get the Torque Pro to read the Ford value?? I'd think the Torque Pro should already "see it" in the parameters.

You are in uncharted waters talking to me about the Torque App, I can help a little but not give specifics. 😜

@gmbpilot757 @The Evil Twin : The 2023+ have changed the whole way the Active Regens happen. I would suggest the 9th Injector doing the work when you drive unloaded. So while you are "burning off the DPF%" unloaded, you are really in a sudo "mini-Active Regen". To see the biggest passive change would be to have a small trailer or heavier load on the truck. That would have a better "true to terms" Passive Regen effect. For a bigger Passive regen effect a larger/heavier trailer would need to be in the mix. Follow me?? I'm not saying that is 100% how it's working, just my observational readings from users like you guys. 😎😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

I would totally agree with you. That is a great way to visualize it. There just is not a way to prove it without seeing data from the 9th squirter. Maybe Forscan shows a parameter that tells you if it's energizing? I dunno.
It's almost like Ford got it right. Under steady driving, dose the exhaust just enough to reach passive regen temps in the 800s- 900s. It is much more efficient than going full hog and bringing EGT up to 1100-1200.
All that said, the active regen parameters may have also changed. I keep pretty good tabs on DPF % as it is on my dash all the time. It seems like active only happens every 1000 miles or so. At least an active regen where it goes to 0% on the dash.

This has been my observations as well. I’m really impressed with the system on this truck compared to my 22 Cummins.

Truck seems to passive regen or mini active regen consistently and then does a full regen from ~90% on the dpf gauge every 1k miles or so.

I can show you data from the 9th squirter 🤪.

Well, I need to keep chatting with Chat GPT I guess. Went out last night and mostly didnt work. I shall try again. I have a 5 hour trip tomorrow so I am hoping to have this figured out today prior to that trip.

@HeavyAssault - I do not see "Miles Since Last Regen" in the standard Torue Pro list, so the one showing is the one I added with the Chat GPT csv file.

Also, my dash DPF is still showing 0% Full. I would fully expect to see something there. No CEL though, so all of the sensors must be working?

@ttrein : Seems odd the Torque Pro isn't already giving you some of those PIDs.

Well I got 2 to work: EGT: Pre-Turbo and EGT: Pre-DEF. Today on my trip back (approx. 400 miles) I was able to at least confirm when it was in regen by watching those EGT gauges raise and fuel economy drop.... which happened a little over 500 miles from the last regen. The EGT got up to about 2180 Deg F during regen.

Im going to continue working to figure out the DPF Soot Mass %, and Miles Since Last Regen.

Also still perplexed on the dash never changing from 0% on the DPF Filter. 🤷‍♂️

I have had OCR turned on for a couple of months now and have had auto regen turned off as I would monitor the PDF % Full. When it gets up in to the 70-80% range I turn auto-regen back on when I know I will be on the hwy long enough to complete a regen.

Yesterday I left for a 5 hour trip so I was occasionally checking it. It got to 30%, but then after a while it went down... 25%....20%... and eventually down to 0% and stayed there. This was over approx the first 180 miles.

I kinda freaked out and turned autoregen back on.

Later on in the trip, about 260 miles in, I refueled and since I turned the truck off I hoped it would reset something in the system but nonetheless it still read DPF 0%.

After getting back on the hwy, about 60 miles later (or less) I saw my fuel economy drop slowly over about 20mins, and then the fuel economy starting creeping back up - indicating to me it was doing a regen (DPF % still showing 0% Full). I was happy to see this though so at least it is cleaning the DPF and I wasnt about to get stranded with a faulty DPF system clogging up.

My only guess is that I hit the 500 miles since last regen, which caused the system to force a regen.

Any idea what would cause the dash to show 0% like this?? No CEL and no indication at all anything is wrong. Has anyone seen their DPF % EVER decrease?

I have been holding off on doing a weight loss program until tax return time but this is making me want to do it sooner then later. What a PITA this system is.

Todd
What’s a DPF mine doesn’t have that

For those reading :

OCR : Operator Commanded Regeneration is used when the vehicle is not in motion and other parameters are set. (Parking Brake on, In Park...etc etc etc)
Active Regen : A PCM controlled automatic process which for some model years (2020-2022) is more often activated based upon miles driven (497.1 miles) being the #1 factor. Not usually driven based off of DPF% indicated in the dash menus.

2023+ owner's have their own demons to fight... 🤣 🤣 🤣 😜 😜 The 2023+ Active Regen process does seem to have a better functioning while driving, but seems to not have a set miles driven as the older model years.
My 25 does it’s dead on 500 miles like clock work my dpf% is usually between 55% and 70% by the time I get to the 500 mile mark with my driving conditions and normally completes its regen fairly quick maybe 15 minutes if that at highway speeds

Well that's what it said. Could be a calculation error, maybe it needs to be halved.
Definitely a calculation error, 2,150*F and your exhaust would be toasted literally.

Don't inow about that calculation, but turbo will have shit the bed at that temp.

Mine hasn't left 0% since I started this thread.... Kind of concerning, but it has done a couple of regens so I guess Ill just hope its just a display issue and leave "auto regen" on. As long as it makes it until spring when it will be going on a weight loss program.

I have a 2025 and with mine I see the DPF filling when I'm driving around town. I then hit the hwy at around 75mph steady. I watch the coolant and oil temp gauges get into around 85-95c and then the PDF starts to passively clean itself. It appears to me that temperature sustained over a period of time will clean out the DPF and I imagine the EGR as well. What are you running for fuel and additive? btw..I'm not towing anything..
