Carli Eventure or Just get a Raptor R

After the crappy dirt roads I'm at highway speeds and 18-20 psi with a tire that has a max psi of 80 doesn't sound like a great idea.
This is why i said for decent duration. Airing down/up a lot is certainly not convenient unless you can do it on the fly.

If you really want a jack of all trades then maybe look into LiquidSpring? The problem is if you want to excel at both towing and offroading you need two different spring rates and airbags don't count.

Owned a Raptor. Worst truck for truck things ever. Fun to exercise on the rare forest road but I was thankful to also own a SD for truck things. Raptor R is what base price $115k? If a smooth daily driver is the problem there are much cheaper and better options for second vehicle out there.

My raptor jumped WAY better than my superduty

38-40psi, get the right suspension, and speed the hell up on your crappy dirt roads.

Done.

Raptors are sick. Full size trucks can be built to give about 75% of the performance, and still be useful for all of the daily aspects of life that a truck is good for.

This is my suggested solution:
Keep your superduty
- 37” tires on 17-18” wheels
- full Carli hard parts w/ the full standard progressive leaf pack and the swaybar (those two parts make up about 70% of the difference)
- either the e-venture shocks or get a set of 2.5’s custom tuned by a proven shock tuner, to your specs. Canned shock tunes will never feel nearly as good as a tune that’s made for your chassis/weight & preferences

Try towing your trailer and see how it feels with that setup. If needed, add a set of Full Travel airbags that you only use when towing.

Man that's a tough one. As exciting as a Raptor R would be, I think you'd regret it when you go to tow the trailer. On the other hand, if you rarely tow, then it kinda sucks to drive the SuperDuty around all the time. If it were me I think I'd stick with the truck I already have, enjoy upgrading, and let some air out of the tires when I hit the dirt.

That's why the smart money carries a portable compressor and a tire pressure gauge. Thousands of off-highway travellers do who use interstates to get them to where they wanna start their off-highway journey, you know, like to go hunting.

I'm learning.
Stock everything except for the 7" AirLift Bags. I tow a 16K+ 5th wheel and a 14' HD tandem axle flatbed with 8K capacity.
PSI towing 5th wheel. 70 rear / 75 front
PSI towing flatbed. 50 all 4.
PSI not towing with about 300 lbs daily driven cargo. 40 all 4.
PSI for mud and sand, I would guess around the 20's.

Tire pressure variance and big sidewalls make for a better use of the tire along with ride comfort.
15 minutes and I can have my tires adjusted at any of the above pressures.
This morning with 4200 lbs of 2x4's. 1/2 of the trailers capacity.

I’m in the same boat, but I’m keeping my SD either way. It’s mod the Super Duty or grab the Raptor R and I’m kind of torn.

I ordered a Raptor R, it was delivered last month and I did not take delivery because I got cold feet on the $20k markup. I decided to just mod the SD but I’ve now found a deal at $10k over so I’m thinking of pulling the trigger.

I’ve had the Carli 3.5 Pintop on my 2022, and I loved the ride. It was definitely comparable ride wise to my Gen 2 Raptor. I have always dreamed of a Raptor with a V8 so I might as well buck up and throw all of my discretionary funds at it and call it a day 😂.

I can tell you from my experience with the Raptor, towing is a double edged sword. The width of the truck helps stability on flat drives but towing grades or in the wind the truck works hard which is why I quit towing with it. I had the Deaver +3 HD Springs and airbags to help out but I still didn’t like towing with the Raptor over the SD.

Have a 21 6.7 that I bought new. Have 75,000 miles on it and now I’m only towing a 36” 9,000 lb. travel trailer twice a year. I love the truck but my daily drive is a lot of terribly maintained dirt roads and I’m getting tired of the rough ride. Now I’m contemplating keeping the truck and putting the Carli Eventure system on it or going the Raptor R route. Would love the power and suspension on the R and like to rip it up on the trails, but would be a real struggle to get my camper to hunt camp to say the least. If the Carli Eventure would give me that plush ride with the ability to switch to some spirited off roading with a simple turn of a dial and still be able to tow on occasion will I be happy with the suspension upgrade? If I didn’t tow on rare occasion it would be a no brainer.
Had an f450- switched to a raptor - switched back to an f350 swb with Carli and air bags. Honestly the best ride I have ever had is ….yes ….my ford lighting. If I have to pull I just borrow a super duty work truck from my company. there’s nothing like a super duty tho with the 6.7. Oddly enough I could never get into the raptor for some reason. they look awesome tho.

Well talked to the guys at CJC off-road today and they talked me into going with the Pathfinder system with the torsion sway bar, and the soft leaf pack and shackles in the back. Said it’s slightly softer than the Eventure and I don’t plan on jumping the truck but if I do the pathfinder will still take a little abuse. Look at that, just saved myself $115,000! We’ll call that a win. 😂

good call

one thing to keep in mind for the towing is a set of free travel airbags on the back. I'm guessing they might have brought that up in conversation. They're on the web site and integrated in their youtube video collection if you have questions on it. Riding empty you get the full function of the suspension, and when towing, you drop in your pucks and air up depending on the rear sag with the load on your hitch or in the bed (it's mainly a towing thing). I have them on mine.

with the torsion sway bar

I'm about to install mine. I whammed it together on the bench today.

I'm keeping my F350 Godzilla Tremor suspension *springs* factory stock for now. I've replaced the stock shocks because they're stock shocks and never really last long. I used Bilstein 5160s to tide me over until I arrive at either KING (they have a little known "oem sport" or something close to it) or Fox HTOs.

I mention this BECAUSE... the Carli torsion swaybar is 1/3rd the battle (with a full Carli kit the victory) and can go a long way to give more front axle compliance when needed independently. Rather, gives easier axle articulation that does the factory swaybar which effectively locks out most articulation compliance.

blah blah blah

I'm excited! and I'm stoked for you having decided to go the full Monty with your truck! Cheers.

They told me that my tongue weight wasn’t heavy enough to require airbags. That plus I don’t tow much anymore

I have the fox HTO’s on mine right now. They have about 3000 miles on them. Hopefully my kit comes in next week. Would you be interested? Have them front and rear.

I miss the ride quality and nimble drive of the raptor but that’s about it. It’s just for driving and nothing else. I had an R and it was just ok, a blast over 4500rpm other than that just blah. I would have kept the R for a secondary vehicle but the bride wanted a new house.
I went back to a super duty so I can haul all my stuff. Even with a pintop kit the ride will be no where near a raptor but it does all truck things very well.

I hope you look back a year from now and think "why did i even consider getting rid of this truck" 🤜🤛

CJC and Carli - you can have your Super Duty and wheel it too 🤙
