No.

Lots of guys just install them for ease of maintenance, myself included.

Yes the PPE cover has a drain plug.

Yessir, that’s correct. Most have fill plugs that are larger than the OEM fill port in the center casting. Some fill ports on aftermarket covers are not at the correct level, so it’s best to use the factory one.

No, not in the big scheme of things at the OE covers are thin enough to radiate the heat. With that there WAS (past tense) an OE aluminum finned cover that fit a few years (circa 2006 or so) SRW trucks, and there was for sure factory installed finned covers on DRW trucks.

Ford OE covers do not have a drain as the housing has a lower cover bolt that when removed will drain out the diff fluid. If you look at the rear cover it's usually the bolt(s) in the 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock position on the diff.

I think that is only certain axles. The 11.6 didn’t drain on me.

No, just put the bolt back in. It’s a bolt that secured the cover, but the threaded hole has a port drilled into the case.
